Secluded 3-bedroom Cabin on Farm

This secluded 3-bedroom cabin has everything you need for your perfect Louisiana-getaway. No traffic, noise or neighbors. Located on 220 acres adjacent to the Bogue Chitto National Wildlife Refuge, the property includes freshwater lakes, a swimming beach with picnic area, and multiple trails for hiking. Guests have easy access to the BCNWR for deer, hog and other seasonal game hunting, as well as canoes, kayaks and a paddle boat for the water. We have blueberries, whitetail deer and chickens supplying fresh yard eggs, while here and while they are laying. There is a fire pit for s’mores, etc.

We live on the property with our two dogs, 5 chickens, 2 cats, and our herd of whitetail deer. Blueberry season is from late May until mid July and coincides with the fawning season for the deer. For more information on the BCNWR, go to its website.

Boat launch with a two bay boat house is available for your use should you want to bring your boat. We also have two canoes, two kayaks, with life jackets and paddles for your complimentary use while here. There are two miles of trails for hiking around the property. From May 15 - July 1, there are fresh blueberries to enjoy during your stay. We have a 30 acre sandy bottom fresh water lake with picnic pavilion for swimming or whatever you choose to do.

We are available for any need that arises during your stay. We can stock the frig with whatever you need upon advance notice. Fresh eggs are complimentary, while the hens are laying, as is coffee, tea and other condiments.

This is property is a functioning farm with farming activities going on periodically as needed. We also have an additional tiny cabin on the water should you need additional housing for your guests. Please go to property #3303467 on the VRBO website to get the details.

Our family group of five loved our week at Sunhillow Farm! The log cabin was so cute and comfortable, well equipped, and nestled in a beautiful setting, surrounded by a blueberry orchard and deer farm. Our hosts Bill and Karen were so friendly and helpful and surprised us with a number of nice treats. We had a wonderful time and can highly recommend Sunhillow Farm.

Great place to stay. Was in Abita Springs for the Fall Fest and chose to stay here. Did not spend much time at the house due to a busy schedule but would definitely come back and highly recommend for a getaway.

Our family had an excellent time! The grands loved the deer, having the golf cart to get around the beautiful property, picking blueberries, going on a boat ride and swimming in the canal. Peaceful, relaxing, and overall, a great place to unwind. Of course, Freddie the rooster was the best! Meeting and visiting with Bill and Karen was great. Wonderful hosts - almost family. Thank you for the wonderful experience and sharing your little piece of heaven on earth!

We truly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cabin. We loved seeing the deer each day and have feeding them. The owners were super nice and took our son out to feed the deer, which was a wonderful added touch. This is a great place to stay for access to all of the surrounding areas and having a great place to come back to and relax at the end of the day. Wish we could have stayed even longer.

Location was about 30 min from most places BUT it is so amazing! The quiet and distance allowed us to see so much wildlife that would never have been seen otherwise. We had an owl visit almost every evening. The property had plenty of space for kids to run and play. The host were so welcoming and gracious! Karen came and walked us into the deer area and feed them “cookies”. She also answered all of our questions.

What a beautiful experience, the environment is so peaceful! The deer, the blueberries, and canoeing to the beach was all wonderful! The country sausage was the best we've ever tasted. From the above tells you all you need to know about our hosts, Bill and Karen.

Of all of the VRBO rentals my family has rented, this one is absolutely at the top of the list. The deer, the home, canoeing, the hospitality! I can't say enough! It was perfect!

We enjoyed our long weekend trip! Great place to stop the world for a few days. It was peaceful watching deer while drinking coffee and relaxing outside. We hiked the trails, and used the canoes and kayaks in the late afternoon. Bill & Karen are very responsive to their guests. We are already discussing a return trip.

A quiet, secluded, 3 bedroom cabin/full house, tucked away on a deer farm only an hour from New Orleans with it's own canoes and dock is a marvelous get away for the adventurous or the wood-be mature lover. It's a fun place. We enjoyed it very much.

Everyone really enjoyed our time in this natural setting. Loved the lake, the trees, deer, bunnies and the blueberries. It was so relaxing walking through the orchards of grapes and citrus too. We saw a two week old fawn. The owners were very helpful and friendly. Loved the blueberry dessert. We rented the golf cart and the pontoon boat during our stay.

This was our third stay at Sunhillow Farm, and it certainly won’t be our last. Bill and Karen’s hospitality is unmatched. It’s the perfect peaceful getaway that’s far from town, yet close enough that if you wanted to make the trip into New Orleans it would only take an hour or so. We loved exploring Abita Springs this trip, which is only about 20 minutes away. If a relaxing, peaceful getaway is what you’re looking for, you can’t go wrong with this beautiful place.
