First, a few good points: A nice and cosy looking property with great potential to be a good holiday home because of its location. Ideal for travelling.
However we were disappointed with the poor state of property upkeep. Tired furnishings, shower was poor. Shower head in bad position. Water main was temperamental to an extent you need to open it at a certain point in order to fill the toilet. Overall cleanliness was very poor with slug trails in kitchen, lounge and hallways. Parking space was narrow and awkward, but manageable. Ghost heaters which come on itselves in the middle of the night and they would make it extremely uncomfortable to sleep in the night.
Now a few ugly truths.. the advert is misleading. Note that nearby castle itself is closed and also the castle garden is not accessible for walk. It would cost you £15 per person to gain access in certain period of the year. Don't be fooled by the description of summer heated swimming pool. In actual fact it is two roads away from the property at a distance of at least 800 meters away. Also will cost you £6 person to gain access.
Now some absolutely dangerous points: Both bed rooms are on the first floor. Both bedrooms just have a very narrow window (size: 3ft length x 1ft width). If the property catches fire, you have no chance of escaping by jumping off the window. I don't know how H&S Executive will allow this property to be advertised as holiday dwelling.
