"Waited outside at 7pm for 20 minutes for no valet to show up. Cars just piling up behind us and giving us dirty looks like we are the ones causing issues. We decide to move the car ourselves and walk back to the lobby. Wait is long and finally it’s our turn. I tell her we’ve been waiting outside for almost a half hour for your valet. She says “oh they sometimes take breaks, self parking will be $40 per night for the stay”. Ugggghhhh. The one chance she had to make up for the bologna and she charges us for parking instead of sending the valet or just comping the parking. The amenities are so so. You can’t walk the area after dark. It’s not safe whatsoever. You will feel how unsafe it is there and dark as can be. We probably will not be going back. Overall the stay was bad, we tried to make the best of it. "

"The room was cozy to the point of overly congested. It had too much stuff in it. Unfortunately size triangular shower. With that said, very friendly staff, clean, safe and comfortable bed and pillows. Overall, reasonable experience."

"A very beautiful historic hotel designed by Julia Morgan . The building is well taken care of. The indoor pool area, while grand, could use some love . The restaurant is also beautiful, menu is surprisingly conventional. I was surprised by the prix fix menu only having one offering and that was red meat! Rooms are simple and smaller, but adequate. Staff is mixed, some competent some not. Like everywhere these days. Feel it’s worth staying at these important properties so that they remain viable. "

"The Claremont felt like an educational experience with the history of the resort. I loved the property, the nature, the architecture. My only knock: the carpets need a steam cleaning, but California is dusty in general, so it’s not a bug knock. 10/10 will stay again!"

"This is a great value in South Berkeley. It’s in a quiet neighborhood with lots of restaurants/grocery stores nearby. It’s a 15 min walk to the BART and the owner was helpful but let us have privacy too!"
