"We can highly recommend the Le Meridian hotel outside Split on the beach. Be aware that it is a good 20+ minute ride out of town. That being the case, don't get into a cab unless you negotiate in advance the price of the trip. We were conned into a cab ride from the marina and the driver tried to charge us 75 Euros to get to the hotel. We were saved by the terrific hotel doorman, Mike, who seems to know everyone and was very helpful in fending off this cab driver. We eventually found a wonderful cab/uber driver who was fare and efficient. We used him for all our travel after that. I will list his contact at the end of this review. The hotel staff was very helpful and polite. We cannot say enough about everyone who worked there. We also liked the restaurants at the hotel - good food and very well run and managed. The only objection we had was access to the beach which was through the reception area and the strange way they monitor the beach and the beach towels. They do not want people traipsing through the lobby of the hotel in bathing suits, but it is hard to dodge the reception area because of the location of the elevators to the pool and beach area.
