  • The California Condor was a common sight along the Columbia River in Lewis and Clark's day. By the early 1980's, there were only twenty-two left on the face of the planet, all in California. Today, thanks to a massive effort to re-populate the species via in-captivity pairing, there are some two-hundred members. But their recovery is far from assured. The Oregon Zoo has undertaken its own recovery effort whose ultimate goal is the re-introduction of the species into the protected wilderness area around the Columbia River Gorge. In short, to bring them home. For now, they live out their days in a vast, outdoor aviary designed specifically to mimic their habitat in the wild. If you have never seen one up close before, I urge you to come take a look. They are larger than any flying bird you will ever see, unless you go to Peru. And though black and white practically from head to toe, their plumage shines and reflects the light like dark, polished metal. If that doesn't suit your fancy, I will tell you that, as with all big birds, if you wait around long enough, they will do something so awe-inspiring that it will take your breath away, and something so goofy that you will laugh out loud. A place to rest your head

This place is very basic. It feels more of a rental house than a vacation destination. If you are looking for just a place to rest your head and no frills, this is the place for you. The price is right and the neighborhood seems good. Great communication from the owner.

Great cozy rental

Some daytime street noise from passing cars but relatively quiet at night. Duplex neighbours were fairly quiet. The owners were quick to respond to our concerns. Nice to have two parking spots for our two vehicles. Very speedy heating system. Nice touch with coffee pods, trail mix and bottle of wine

Conveniently located

We needed something in between Hillsboro and Portland. This was a perfect location. It was close to all the things we needed to see. Clean and comfortable.

Carry your own batteries if you want to even turn on the TV

The TV remote didn't work. Was told there are spare batteries in the kitchen drawer. There were 4 total. None of them worked either. It was more than 100 degrees outside. So didn't head out to get the batteries till it was cooler in the evening. Spent half the day indoors (out of 2 days total stay) cooped up not being able to do a simple thing as watch TV. The owners response was they will reimburse me 5-10$ for the batteries after spoiling nearly 25% of our trip for which we paid $750. With the exorbitant amount of fees and charges the least you can expect is a working remote or a quick resolution by coming and dropping fresh batteries. But the owners are too good for that. IF YOU WANT TO TAKE A CHANCE WITH THIS PLACE CARRY ALL EXTRAS WITH YOU.

Shabby

I felt we paid a lot for what we got. A month ago we paid the same for a much newer house and lots better neighborhood. Furniture was shabby and very thrift store items beds were good Needed help with maintenance around kitchen sink and door jam’s dirty
