The apartment is in the Ribeira district and we had an easy stroll to the river and all the restaurants that line the river walk. It is a lovely, quiet apartment with a well equipped kitchen. The only problem we had was that there were no instructions for the washing machine. We couldn't get it to fill with water.

A lovely flat, just up the road from the Douro itself and right in the centre of the Ribeira district, close to the station. A good Fado club diagonally opposite and a Spar a few meters away. Tastefully decorated living room; big comfortable double bed in Bed 1 and 2 singles in the (windowless) Bed 2. Lovely shower room, plus washing machine, dishwasher, coffee maker and oil fired rads for colder nights. My only negative was the limited selection of kitchen equipment - only one blunt knife, no bread knife or paring knife and a rather small frying pan making it difficult to cook at home.

Great communication w/manager. Elevator (yay!). Could have used more towels. Washer/dryer combo (we did not use). Basic plates, cups, mugs, utensils. Could have used a platter, a pitcher and a rubber spatula. Loved having 2 bedrooms w/king (double beds pushed together) & twin beds in 2nd bedroom. Nice hot water, great water pressure. Coffee maker, electric hot water kettle & microwave all in great condition. Close to river, but no view from inside apartment. Very hilly city (which we loved) - train & metro both close by (less than 10 minute walk). Grocery store couple doors down & plenty of places to eat, buy pastries, etc. close by. Loved the outlets & ledges by beds for electronics.

The apartment was perfect for our stay. It was right in the middle of everything. Close walk to many restaurants including Michelin ones. Close to the River, easy walk to all the points of interest. Communication was prompt. Was also picked up from and to airport. Service was prompt. Much less expensive than taking a regular taxi. The apartment was also very clean and has everything you would need for a stay in beautiful Porto.

We loved our stay at Merc Porto Ribeira View! The location was fantastic. Daniella was a perfect host and explained what was available in the neighbourhood as well as sending us a list of sights we shouldn't miss. She also arranged our airport transportation and to top it off, left us a lovely bottle of Portuguese wine to enjoy. Thanks so much Daniella, we loved it! If I had one critique it would be to supply a few more towels. I would come back in a heartbeat!
