About this property

Fen Cottage, Walberswick

A light and airy three bedroom cottage, sensitively renovated to high Eco spec with super insulation, triple glazing, EV charger, and an air source heat pump. This charming cottage with fantastic views is located down a quiet lane yet close to the beach, popular green (slides and swings for little guests), the ferry, to Southwold and two excellent pubs. Interiors have plenty of residual charm throughout the sociable open plan ground floor, three bedrooms (2 double, 1 twin), and the shower room.

Fen Cottage offers a year round opportunity to sample the high comfort, low carbon* lifestyle in a beautiful setting in one of England’s loveliest seaside villages. Whilst there are three bedrooms the ground floor is more suited to 4 + 2 guests. The cottage is timber clad and has a stable door front entrance into the main sitting and dining space,, with a back door to the courtyard style garden.

HALLWAY
You know you've stepped into somewhere unique and quirky as you step into the hallway with stairs to the first floor, original doors to the lliving and kitchen areas, and the smallest utility room in the world with a washer/dryer so you can rinse your swimming gear. Cork flooring runs throughout the cottage.

KITCHEN/DINING/LIVING ROOM
Ideal for socialising with friends and family, this L shaped room wraps around with a dining table (up-cycled kitchen door), bench seat and chairs sitting in the sunny bay window. The unique bespoke kitchen is basic but has everything you need to cater from home with a built in eye level oven and microwave, a four ring electric hob, an under counter fridge with ice box, slimline dishwasher tucked away, and the essential kettle and toaster. There's a drop leaf table for mealtimes as you walk through to the cosy sitting area, where you can relax with a good book in front of a log fire in the original brick chimney, furnished with a sofa, shelf seat beside the TV, and casual chairs, with a door to the hallway.

FIRST FLOOR
Relatively steep carpeted stairs with a hand rail and rope, rise to the mini first floor landing with steps up to the bedrooms. Wooden floors run throughout with lots of rugs to prevent cold feet.

PRINCIPAL BEDROOM
Designed so you can make the most of the sunset and sunrise with the view over the marshes to Southwold and the ferry from the double bed, or whilst enjoying morning coffee in front of the double doors and Juliette balcony where you can see the sun setting at the end of a busy day. There's storage in an open hanging space and a little chest of drawers, and a couple of chairs and a table inviting you to relax.

FRONT BEDROOM
A pretty room, simply furnished wish a double bed has a shelf and little table for your water glass and there's storage in a wardrobe and chest of drawers.

TWIN BEDROOM
Wake to the garden view to the harbour from the floor to ceiling picture window in this twin room which has a wardrobe with hanging shelves for you to store your clothes.

BATHROOM
Light streams into this elegant bathroom where the tiled shower cubicle has both a rain and hand-held shower heads and there's a wash basin with storage beneath, a WC, and a heated towel rail with towels supplied for all guests.

OUTSIDE
There's a single parking space with EV charger (charges apply) and a sunny sitting spot at the front, with a sunny courtyard garden with picnic table at the back, and open storage for cycles.

Reviews:
1. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fen Cottage thank you. The cottage is beautiful and had everything we needed. We didn’t travel too far, but did a couple of lovely walks worth noting. we walked from Walberswick to Dunwich one day for lunch at the pub and back. We had a wonderful meal at The Ship. We also walked a circular route from Sizewell to Thorpeness and had another wonderful lunch at the pub in Thorpeness. Other than that we walked our dog a lot around Walberswick and Southwold and relaxed in the garden of the cottage. We certainly hope to return one day.
Thank you!

2. Hello, had a lovely stay, cottage very well equipped and a very convenient location. We enjoyed the outside space. Bed and bedding really comfortable, everywhere was very clean. Thank you!!

3. We chose to stay at Fen Cottage primarily for the car charger however having stayed in the property next door last Summer, with our Labrador, we also knew it was positioned down a quiet lane with fantastic views to Southwold Blackshore. Wildlife enthusiasts will enjoy the wild geese grazing on the field behind. Seeing the lighthouse blinking at night and stepping out with so many lovely (dog) walks on the doorstep, not least a short stroll to the harbourside (plus ferry) and beach is a real treat.

4. The cottage itself is very much run along sustainable lines and has an air source heat pump which successfully heats the property. It is well insulated, so during the early Spring months we were warm and cosy with the added bonus of an open fire should we wish .
