Old Cottage - Reynivellir II

"Check-in is at a different location than the Cottage, so be sure to review the messages from the hotel before arrival regarding check-in location. We were the first guests to arrive for the evening. Our room was clean and tidy upon arrival, and so was the bathroom and kitchen/common area. The cottage was full and we were on the 2nd floor with 2 bathrooms. Each bathroom only had 1 bath mat, which disappeared after the 2nd person took a shower. (Each room should be provided its own bathmat, not 1 per bathroom. Besides ensuring we'd have use of a bathmat, it's more sanitary.) The bathroom doors/doorknobs were sticky and required a bit of "slam" to close, making it noisy for guests, especially those right across the hall. There should also be some indication where extra toilet paper and blow dryer are stored. When we called about it, we weren't told it was in the drawer below the sink (thought it was a false drawer so hadn't looked), but was told to look in the other bathroom. Not helpful. Other guests left food in the sink drain after cooking/eating. Sign should indicate to throw in garbage. The cottage is relatively old, even though the bathroom and kitchen area have been updated, and it sounded/felt like we were going to go through the floor when walking around in our room."
Hótel Jokulsarlon - Glacier Lagoon Hotel

"This hotel is really fancy and nice. The hot tubs outside and the sauna with beautiful views. The rooms are lovely and the restaurant food was excellent. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five was the price. It was very expensive and, while wonderful, I don’t know if it was worth the prices."

"The room was comfortable and clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. I just didn’t like that the kitchen wasn’t available for use, however there was a kettle and microwave available for use. I enjoyed the breakfast and when we had to leave early for a tour, we were offered food to take to go, which was very kind since it was early before breakfast started. I enjoyed my stay very much."

"Rooms were clean and the views were spectacular. Very friendly staff and the restaurant on premises was terrific. Only thing I have to add was that we were in the main house on first floor. The doors are heavy and make a lot of noise on closing so if you are going to sleep early( which most people do), people that arrive late and drag suitcases and slam doors (in other words, they are not cognizant that people are asleep), you can hear everything. Other than that, it was great."

"Charming guesthouse in an older farmhouse - great location, clean, comfortable. We had a nice stay, did not opt in for the breakfast at an additional cost. Very quiet despite most rooms being full. As mentioned in other reviews, there are ALOT of house rules. This didn't bother us but may deter guests who prefer a more relaxed stay."
