The hotel and its rooms are very poorly maintained. It feels like this was once a truly grand and luxurious hotel, but after decades of inadequate maintenance, it has lost much of its charm.
The air conditioning in our original room did not work. We complained more than five times before any action was taken. It wasn’t until the second night that the hotel finally moved us to another room with working AC at maybe 70% capacity, causing significant discomfort.
The toilet in our room was also broken. Maintenance tried to repair it twice but failed, so we had to use it without the tank lid for the rest of our stay.
Many hallways are poorly lit, and some areas of the hotel appear abandoned and neglected. Housekeeping was inconsistent, and we repeatedly had to request towels, soap, and shampoo because they were often forgotten.
The most disappointing part of our stay was the staff. They were generally unfriendly, indifferent, and unhelpful whenever we needed assistance. Instead of resolving issues promptly, we had to repeatedly follow up.
Overall, while the building still reflects the elegance of its past, the lack of maintenance, poor service, and attention to detail made our stay far below expectations. This is definitely not a five-star hotel. At best, I would consider it a three-star property, and I would not recommend it to travelers expecting the quality and service associated with a luxury hotel.
