We stayed at the Lone Pine Chalet during the peak Christmas and new year and our review and rating is based on the fact that we paid “premium” for a luxury chalet - this place didn't meet the mark. The pros - 1) lovely views from the main reception window, and 2) lots of bedrooms and able to cater for a large group. Cons - 1) for price, we found the chalet tired and dated, with old carpets and worn out furniture, no decor, and very outdated bathrooms (we had problems with 2 of them and 1 of them was not available for use during our entire stay!), 2) it is advertised as ski in ski out but what they don't make clear is the ski out is a skate/climb for a fairly long distance and it is easier to call the shuttle bus and take it to base of Alta, and ski in is for experienced skiers only, 3) the new hot tub is in the garage which seemed strange but there is no space elsewhere to put it, 4) be warned about interlodge at powder ridge whereby you are not allowed to leave the chalet (this happened to us once), and 5) there is no grocery shopping in Alta at all - the closest place to stock up is in snowbird and that requires a car or going to base of Alta to pick up the main bus (and a 4x4 is essential if you have a car since there is not really any Ubers). Team at Alta Chalet were generally helpful and responsive but their description should be more clear.
