Oasis by the Santa Fe River - 4 Blocks to Historic Plaza; 1 Block to Canyon Road

Casa Tierra is a unique historic adobe in a superb location: 4 blocks from the Santa Fe Plaza and 1 block off art-studded Canyon Road. This 2 bedroom/2 bath casita is tucked back from the Santa Fe River; the 6 minute stroll to the center of town is along shady sidewalks and seasonally flowing water.

This authentic adobe is hand-mudded in the ancient ways of native peoples. It is this rare and lovely hand-applied earthen surface that lends the house its name, Casa Tierra - House from the Earth. Casa Tierra is one of only six all-adobe, all-mudded homes remaining today in Santa Fe.

Upon entering Casa Tierra, you are greeted by a great room with high viga-beam ceilings, herringbone brick floors, fireplace, and museum quality art and antiques. The living room opens onto a granite topped kitchen with five burner stove. Both bedrooms offer a king or two-twin-beds sleeping option (new beds!) and each has its own joyfully tiled Talavera bath. Handmade doors, furnishings, carvings and woodwork throughout offer a rustic Old World ambiance.
Casa Tierra opens out onto four private and inviting sitting areas beneath venerable Cedar and Cypress trees--perfect for communing with friends or simply relaxing and enjoying time alone. This is truly an Oasis by the Santa Fe River.

Perfect location for square and Canyon Road

Great location… nice well appointed casita directly behind the owners home… throughly enjoyed the week…fully stocked kitchen… kiva fireplace and outdoor gas grill… everything we needed for a great week. Ms Bennett is an artist and several of her paintings hang in the space. It was a great stay!

Lovely abode and location

The locale was perfect--short walk to Square, lovely path across the road that followed the stream; bed was very comfortable. We had trouble with the door closing--had to slam it shut. The right side of the electric stove did not work correctly--both burners went on instead of just one. For people who like to cook, the counter space is small.

Delightful

We stayed for 3 weeks and enjoyed the back patio and the cottage, both nestled under 2 enormous trees - one an Atlas cedar and the other an huge cypress. The interior was comfortable with lots of natural light. The kitchen was also well stocked. We also liked the car port and room off street to park two and even three cars. We would definitely stay there again.

Great house; great location

Lovely and comfortable Santa Fe style house with everything we needed. The location was convenient to walk to the Plaza & Canyon Rd & numerous good restaurants. A bonus was the walking path outside the house along the Santa Fe River. Everyday we commented to each other how fortunate we were to enjoy such a wonderful place! Definitely will return!

Wonderful casita

Great place with big charming rooms. Close to everything. When the temperature dropped to 14 degrees, we were warm amd cozy. The kitchen was well stocked and we had plenty of laundry detergent. That’s a big plus for us. We will definitely be returning.

Cute place in a great area

This place is in a great area and was a cute place to stay. My only complaint is that there were spiders and I got bit by one on my forehead while I was sleeping. We also killed two black spiders in each of the bathrooms. We also saw a few little ants. Definitely needs a good bug spray. Other than that, everything was good.

Perfect Santa Fe Adobe Home

We fell in love with this beautifully-decorated and perfectly-located Santa Fe adobe home. From the gorgeous colors in the home and the owner’s paintings on the walls to the wonderful wood smell, and thoughtful touches throughout, we had a great and restorative stay. The house is well laid out for four, with very comfy beds and a spacious living room and dining area, with open kitchen. And the bathrooms are well maintained with authentic tile. We walked everywhere - 15 minutes to the plaza and 5 minutes to Canyon Road. Plus, the owner left great tips for hiking trails and restaurants. For warmer weather, the outdoor patio is amazing. It’s a beautiful house that gives you a warm, peaceful feeling as soon as you walk in. We wished we could have stayed longer.

Lovely Property and Perfect Location

We loved our stay, truly an Oasis! Easy walk to the Plaza which we really enjoyed one afternoon. After a brief rest at the Casa we had a delightful stroll on the path along the river which is across the street. Unfortunately the following day there were thunderstorms so we weren’t able to walk to Canyon Road but it’s so close by and hopefully we’ll come back for another stay. The kitchen has everything needed and we cooked a nice dinner the nite of the Thunderstorms. The casa is lovely and we loved the history, beautiful decor and Vintage tiles! The yard is very nice but with the weather we weren’t able to spend time there. Easy carport parking in front so you can leave your car and walk everywhere!

Terrific in (almost) every way!

Loved the casita. Perfectly located for walkers; close to everything. Kitchen is well-equipped except maybe more Keurig K-cups. 10 for 4 adults for 4 nights was tight. (Fortunately I had noticed from the photos the Keurig machine and brought my reusable pod and coffee). Comfortable for 2 couples (the extra bedroom does not have windows that open but was comfortable with all the lights on. My B-I-L is somewhat claustrophobic...). The outside space was perfect for late afternoons, dinners and talking into the night. I wish it had been cool enough to have enjoyed having a fire in the cozy living room.

Comfortable Home in a Perfect Location

We could not have been more pleased with the location of this oasis as it was within walking distance of both Canyon Road and the Plaza, both of which included numerous galleries to awe us and enough amazing restaurants to keep us well fed. The several block walk to the Plaza was still manageable even for my mother, who can often struggle with such activities. Any other sightseeing we were looking to do in Santa Fe was within a short (easy) driving distance (i.e. Meow Wolf, Museum Hill, Audubon Center, etc.). The home was quiet, well-appointed, and extremely comfortable for our stay in May. We easily made breakfast each morning and occasionally stayed in for dinner, since the kitchen was well-appointed and included some pantry staples. I'm not sure if it was all the walking and fresh air, or the plush, comfy beds, but we all fell asleep easily each night. Each morning we were serenaded by a variety of songbirds, which is a much better way to awaken than an alarm clock. The description and pictures of this oasis are on point, and we would highly recommend it for your trip to Santa Fe.

Dark, dingy, and cold

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: There of us stayed in their rental in January. The location was close to canyon road which was nice but we did not enjoy this home. It is in need of a thorough cleaning. Lots of dust and grime. It is anything it elegant in our opinion. Old worn cabinetry and fixtures in kitchen and bathrooms. Insufficient heating throughout and very cold floors. The furnace never shut off the whole time we were there and was cold in the main bedroom all the time. Consider though that this is an authentic adobe build home, but it needs some tic. The pictures look much better than how this shows in person.
