Encompassing 2.2 miles, the Savannah Historic District is compact and easy to navigate whether by foot or by wheel. To visit Savannah like a local, consider walking, bicycling or taking a pedicab around the district, which ranges from River to Gaston streets and East Broad Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

1- Bike! A fun and active approach to enjoy Forsyth Park is on two wheels. It's an easy way to see the entire park, meet people, squeeze in some exercise and a perfect excuse to ditch your car. Remain conscious of the city's ordinance on prohibited bike trails.

2- DOT Downton Free Trolley: It's FREE and is one of the most popular ways to get around the historic district of Savannah and see the sites. The DOT is a fare-free service to help visitors and residents get around downtown Savannah. Included in the system are shuttles serving 18 stops in the Historic District and the Savannah Belles Ferry. Use the free shuttle from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Mon.-Fri.; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays; and 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on holidays (excludes Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year's Day.)

3- Pedicab: They are usually pedicabs waiting closer to Bay street. Further back (past Liberty) you may have to call to page one. Savannah pedicabs also offers little tours of the city, with the cyclist giving commentary. It's a great way to get around the city, especially if you've been walking and are tired.

4- Savannah Belles Ferry: Monday through Sunday, 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (Service to Waving Girl Landing ends at 6:00 p.m.) Connects downtown with Hutchinson Island and the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center Modern passenger-only ferries are reminiscent of vessels seen in the harbor a century ago. Named for Savannah’s Belles, strong women who shaped the city’s history. ADA-Accessible Pet Policy – Service animals, pets in carriers and non-aggressive dogs on leashes are permitted on the Ferries. Water ferry service may be interrupted without notice due to inclement weather and/or other river traffic. The home is equipped with both front door and backyard cameras for added security.

    Getting Around:

One of the best things about staying at Kenneth Manor is that you can leave your car behind and experience Savannah the way locals do.

The Historic District is wonderfully walkable, with beautiful parks, historic squares, cafés, boutiques, restaurants, and galleries all within easy reach. A leisurely stroll is often the best way to discover the city's hidden gems.

If you'd like to explore a little farther, here are a few of our favorite ways to get around:

    🚲 Bike

Savannah is a fantastic city to explore on two wheels. Ride through Forsyth Park, cruise beneath the famous oak trees, and discover charming neighborhoods at your own pace.

    🚎 Free DOT Shuttle

Savannah's complimentary Downtown Transportation (DOT) shuttle makes it easy to explore the Historic District without worrying about parking. It's a convenient way to visit River Street, City Market, Forsyth Park, and many of Savannah's most popular attractions.

    🚲 Pedicabs

Need a break from walking? Pedicabs are a fun way to get around while learning a little local history along the way. They're commonly found near River Street and other popular tourist areas.

    ⛴️ Savannah Belles Ferry

Hop aboard the free Savannah Belles Ferry for a scenic ride across the Savannah River to Hutchinson Island and the Savannah Convention Center. It's a relaxing way to enjoy the waterfront and offers beautiful views of the city skyline.

Whether you choose to walk, bike, ride, or cruise across the river, getting around Savannah is part of the experience—and one of the reasons so many guests fall in love with the city.
