The setting of the property was very peaceful and relaxing. The location was perfect for exploring the South as well as the Golden Circle and Thingvillier National Park.
Coffee machine was a very nice addition!
Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable and private bathroom was much appreciated.
Very accommodating kind staff, beautiful clean room with a balcony view, had separate bathroom with bathtub, and shared bathroom with clean shower with hot water.
Overall great experience, would highly recommend to others to come and enjoy their stay.
We had a room with a private bath. It was excellent. The staff were very friendly. They provided free tea and coffee. They also had a tray with fantastic oatmeal cookies that were homemade. They didn't have an ice machine but the restaurant provided us ice twice upon our request. We decided to eat dinner there since the lodging was out a bit in the countryside. We went with the barbecued chicken wings and pizza and they were very good.
The cabin we stayed in had everything we needed. The property was a farm so when you pull in don’t be surprised :) but we loved being there. The views were great and you felt like an Icelander living in a farm .
I loved that this property was in the country - I felt like I was staying with an Icelandic family. It also acts as a camp site for locals. The weekend I was there it seemed there was some type of family reunion of locals - wonderful. The recreation room was nice and they also had grills for the folks who were camping. My only recommendation is to plant trees around the premiter of the property to help with erosion and reforestation. The lack of trees in Iceland is shocking. Great location, great staff nice clean property.
Clean room and comfortable beds. Simple, nothing fancy but thats what we were looking for exactly. Didn't really use the amenities, but they have a nice lounge area with a pool table. Staff was nice, check-in easy.
We did not eat breakfast there but they had a nice area to eat and to relax, separate from our room, offering coffee, tea and hot chocolate at no cost.
Staff was most helpful. There was plenty of parking available. We just had to enter the name of the hotel and our Apple map led us there very easily. Getting to
Westman Islands was easy from there, as was the Golden Circle.
Quiet farm house, has onsite restaurant. Easy to find, although a little remote. My kids love their pizza. Nice and helpful staff. Room is small but clean and with private bathroom. About 15 mins drive to Selfoss downtown. Offer breakfast buffet with fee. Free packing.
We stayed at Guesthouse Vatnsholt with another couple at the end of July. We booked the Deluxe room, which was quite spacious and a beautiful view. The other couple booked a standard room which was very small but clean. The staff was wonderful and very attentive.
Although the guesthouse was in a beautiful location, it felt overrun by campers, which they allow on the property. There were a lot of kids playing on the grounds, which is nice to see, but created a lot of noise. The breakfast was quite expensive for what was served. We had stayed in other guesthouses in Iceland that served a better breakfast at a much lesser cost. We were also surprised that we had to pay to use the pool table.
Everything was wonderful! The buffet breakfast was great and the staff was so welcoming. The lounge area and dining room were nice to have since there aren’t a lot of places to eat in the area.
