"Lodge was perfect for our group, clean with everything we needed.Hot tub was private and well maintained."

"I admittedly arrived at a busy time and The Bear was reportedly chronically short of staff. Whilst the room and its cleanliness was excellent, the human side was somewhat chaotic. I queued twice for approx. 15 mins in total only to be told, in regard to ordering food, that the chef was very busy and not feeling well. I could not order any food and whilst sickness is unavoidable no decision was made to stop food orders for the evening. That lack of a decision was the problem and frustrating. I was told I might be able to order later but I'd need to wait and there was no certainty. I cut my losses and went to another nearby pub where I received calm service and great food."

"Weâ€™ve just got home from a well deserved week away at The Coach House and we loved the tranquility of the place. The very hospitable owner Joan met us upon arrival and gave us a guided tour and the house had absolutely everything we needed. We used the house as a base to explore Coniston, Hawkshead and Windermere as well as visiting local beaches at Haverigg and Millom. It was lovely to return to the peace and quiet of the house in the evening and light the logburner. The stars are some of the brightest weâ€™ve ever seen because theres no light pollution and no noise from passing traffic which made a real change for us city dwellers. I was able to charge my electric car at the owners property which was so helpful and took away any anxiety over finding charging stations. The King William IV pub nearby was amazing and their festive baguette was delicious. The local shop in Bootle is very well equipped and the nearby farm shop looked very popularIt was our first trip to Cumbria and weâ€™ve had a wonderful time ."

"What a perfect place to stay. Room was large and comfortable. Emiko was a lovey host full of great suggestions on what to do locally. Breakfast was very tasty but the real added extra was the on site bar with what seemed like 100s of different whiskeys which Emiko was very knowledgable on and happy to help you find one to enjoy. We will be back. "
