About this property
Entire place
You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.
Spicewood, Lake Travis, Pedernales, Hot Tub, Fire Pit, Porch Swing
We offer direct access to 6-acres of nature for your dog to explore and are close to wineries/distilleries. KickbackCove is truly a hidden retreat where you can relax, reset, and reconnect with the people you love.
When you drive through our gates, you will immediately feel the presence of nature as mature trees create a canopy over the house, and the sounds of birds chirping take you in.
Are you ready to enjoy star gazing, swimming in PaceBend Park on Lake Travis only 7 minutes away, hanging out at Krause Springs or Spicewood Vineyards?
Plan your fall trip and enjoy hot tubbing under the stars, a good fire, or sitting on our covered patio drinking coffee.
Enjoy our newly renovated charming Hill Country bedroom home to escape and reconnect with nature. Unlike many Spicewood homes, this is not grandma's house. We have over 4 yrs of 5-star guest reviews.
This property has been described as hill country lovers dream and only 40 min from downtown Austin, 25 min from Lakeway. Located in Spicewood on the what was the Pedernales River with over 6 acres, this home is the best place to Kickback and relax. (Note: The Pedernales river is currently in a drought and reduced to a creek ). Krause Springs is an amazing local natural springs for swimming and only 20 min away or you can enjoy Pacebend Park for swimming only 10 min. away)
Picture yourself hanging out on our covered patio with friends drinking your coffee or sipping on a glass of wine while surrounded by large trees watching TV outside or taking sitting by a roaring fire roasting marshmallows listening to some classic rock.
Spicewood feels like you have stepped into another world...a place where you can actually see the stars, hear the birds, kayak in the lake, and feel the peacefulness of nature and space. We live in what I would describe as an eclectic or "Lakey" neighborhood. That's why they often joke and say "Keepin' it Weird in Spicewood."What that translates to you as guests is minimal noise control and country fun!
We have a private 6-person hot tub, propane grill, fire pit, covered patio with a porch swing, separate fenced in yard for your dogs, and are within 10 min to Gaucho winery and Luck Ranch.
Note: We do live on site and are separated by a large garage so we do not have a direct view to this home. The hot tub area is not fenced in but most guest feel the place has enough privacy. You can walk down to the creek down a path that takes about 6 min.
Hill Country Living
We are in a prime location near Spicewood Vineyards or StoneHouse , Iron Wolf distillery, Poodies Bar, Willie Nelson's Luck Ranch, or hiking in Pace Bend Park. This country home offers a soulful experience- guaranteed to see deer grazing at deer-30, 8:45 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily down by the creek.
LIVING AREA
The open living area features a 55” flat-screen TV with Roku and Netflix. Two large reclining leather couches offer comfortable seating for a large family or group. A very fun "Willie Nelson" style sitting area and a record player because music brings joy!
KITCHEN & DINING
The kitchen has a fun vintage vibe and is fully equipped with silverware, plates/cups, coffee maker, complementary coffee/creamer/sugar, spices, and everything you'll need to prepare hearty home-cooked meals. Front door leads directly the covered private patio with a side enclosed yard for your dogs. Yes, we are dog friendly!
BEDROOMS & BATHS
This one-story manufactured home sleeps up to six guests in three bedrooms. We offer an oversized shower, and a 1 1/2 bath attached to one of the bedrooms.
All bedrooms are clean and feature either two plush queen-size beds, or a King bed.
OUTDOOR AREAS
In addition to your private patio and hot tub sitting area, walk down a paved path about 5-6 minutes leading to about 3 acres of a valley and enjoy the expansive hill country views of this amazingly calm and breezy valley.
Many people ask about the river depth right now. It should be noted that our dock is dry docked right now as the river has been reduced to a creek.
Wifi: We do offer sufficient wifi for several devices to work/zoom calls etc. but not alway suitable for gaming.
Note: You can access Lake Travis and launch a boat in 10 min from either Pace Bend Park, or go and enjoy Briarcliff Marina for kayaking.

The wife and I were just looking to get away somewhere to relax. We had a very relaxing time! Spicewood is very quiet. The house was very clean. They have everything you need! Nice front porch and hot tub. Thanks Denise for a great stay!
We had an incredible stay at this home, it had everything we could have wanted and the interactions with Denise and Scott were lovely as well as really helpful as we looked for places t visit during our stay. We loved the setting, hot tub, fire pit, well-equipped kitchen. The owners have given close attention to maintenance and enduring that each room was beautiful and comfortable.
Due to COVID, our family decided to find a place nearby for our teenage boys to have access to some fun water activities. Denise and Scott were wonderful hosts and offered lots of amenities to make our stay even more enjoyable. The boys loved the dock - swimming, fishing, and kayaking kept them busy. The location is very convenient for nice day trips as well - Enchanted Rock, several nearby marinas for boat and jetski rentals. Thank you for opening your home for a great week of family fun!
Beautiful home with a perfect mix of decor and ambiance that I could only aspire to replicate in my own home. Typically with a pet friendly property it’s a wildcard in terms of the upkeep and updates to the home, that is most definitely not the case with this residence…clean, sheek, Austin cool, but warm and inviting. The property owner offers the perfect combination of privacy and respect balanced with hospitality to ensure your stay is great.
My dogs and I enjoyed short (about 200 yard) daily walks down the path to the river and open field where they could run and play. In addition, really appreciated the fenced in area next to the property where you can close the gates for them to “do their business” without worrying about them running off.
Was pleasantly surprised at the number of deer to watch moving about the property and neighborhood. A very calming place to get out of the city and enjoy nature in Hill Country, and a short drive to a hidden Texas gem, Krause Springs, as well as any number of State Park/Recreation Areas.
I meant to review sooner!! We had a great stay at kickback cove. The property was easy to find and check in was quick too. From reading reviews I knew the property wasn’t waterfront. The trek down to the river is steep and a bit of a ways down but that didn’t bother us. We got great use of the lily pads and docks! It is not private use and we ended up meeting a fun couple that was staying on the property as well. The kids had a blast jumping from the dock to the lily pad.
The cabin had everything we needed and plenty of space for the 4 of us and our 3 small dogs. The fenced area is nice however we did feel our dogs would escape if not kept on leashes. The yard overlooks the safari tent the hosts also rents.
The hot tub was clean and in a good area. We had our music up a little loud one night not realizing the sound traveled to the tent others were in and the owner very nicely asked us to turn it down and complimented our music choice! lol! But I can see where the two rentals are close enough they could hear us!
Overall a very fun vacay, stocked house with lots of room and a great porch to hang out on! We would definitely go back!
The spot was great for a group. There was tons of ample entertainment space and hangout areas. The one star that I held back was because the property manager, Denise and I, a few communication issues. We never met in person, which I think would’ve helped. I tried to keep things thorough with her in the loop through messaging. It started with pet fee issues (which I truly think was an honest mistake), then a complaint about cars in the driveway (that was soon realized to also be owner mistake - not our cars) and then follow up questions about some packages the owner hadn’t been delivered a few days after our stay. However, the owner also recommended bars and areas around and was very communicative on that, if you enjoy a tour guide of sorts, I’m sure Denise would be that. The property itself was great (the hot tub in the fall was wonderful) and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay or celebrate especially as a group. I’m a very private and quiet person that was having medical issues at the time of this stay so I prefer properties that require a low amount of consistent communication for the sake of rest. Especially when I’m on vacation. Otherwise the cabin was a great experience and I don’t think the issues I had would really be “issues” for most people. It was obvious to me that Denise wanted us to have a good time. The area was also very fun to visit, but plan your ride share/uber/DD ahead of time!
We had a wonderful time at this property when we stayed November 2020. The host was fantastic and we had several nice chats with her. I will say the property was a little outdated, but great location!
Check In Was A Breeze House Was Clean And Decorated So Cute Denise Was A Doll So Sweet And Helpful I Really Enjoyed The Hot Tub And The Beds Were Comfy Definitely Coming Back Denise Was Such A Wonderful Host
Easy check in, quiet location, comfortable bedrooms, and nice hot tub on the patio. The covered porch was decorated for Christmas, and the kitchen had everything. Large TV and nice couches in the living room.
The house was very comfortable and Denise is very communicative and helpful. The only disappointment, and it was pretty major for us, was that there is no waterview from the house. The waterview pictures are from THEIR property. To get to the water from this house is a bit of a hike. The fire pit in the pictures is also THEIR fire pit. There is a nice fire pit at the house, but it’s by the hot tub not the river. So, no watching the sunset while sipping wine around the fire pit, like you might think based on the pictures. However, if you ’re looking for a comfortable house with a hot tub close to, but not ON, the water, you’ll like it!
My brothers, dad, nephew and I stayed at Kickback Cove for 3 nights. We had a great time! The house is very clean and nicely decorated...it has a good vibe, very open and roomy. The days we were there it was HOT, about 105°+ but down on the river at the covered dock it was probably 10-15 degrees cooler or at least felt like it. We swam and relaxed down there. One thing though, is that the water is pretty far from the house and will be kind of challenging for those with mobility or respiratory issues. My 82 year old dad was not able to go down to the water, so that was kind of disappointing. He was still happy just chillin at the house, though. We didn’t really use the hot tub because it was so damn hot but it’s really nice and would be great in cooler weather. Overall, I would definitely recommend staying here. Denise and Scott are super nice and great to work with. They made sure everything was as it should be.
