"Room seemed liked it was recently refurbished, so was in good condition, comfortable bed, lovely bathroom. Not all areas of the hotel were in such a good condition. Our dinner in the Bar and Grill was not a good experience, with no vegan options, poor quality food, mistakes with our order, and such a long wait for our food that we were offered a free round of drinks from the bar, I wouldn't eat there again if I lived locally! There wasn't enough floor staff on duty for a very busy Saturday evening. The breakfast was fine though. Overall an ok stay, but Village Hotels would not be on my list of hotels to visit again"

"Room was clean, staff were courteous, supportive and very responsive However, some additional care and energy should be directed at overall cleanliness and upgrade of amenities. During our second stay, we had to change room as the toilet bowl in our allocated room had terrible and visible stain underneath and this caused my wife (a very clean and meticulous woman) upset. Also, the installed heater was dysfunctional and an external heater had to be brought to us Overall we were pleased "

"The hotel is a little old and dated, but the staff were friendly and helpful (although at breakfast we were initially told that your name/room number was not on the list - an issue that was quickly corrected). We were in a disabled room (I had specifically requested a ground floor room which the hotel promptly agreed to, although we didn't specifically require the disabled facilities). My only issue with the room was that the toilet didn't flush well (still stuff floating in it after a full flush and you then had to wait for the cistern to fill to effectively flush again). I can't complain about the parking charge as i was aware of it when I booked, but it does seem a bit steep for a car park that only really services the hotel (I cannot see any reason why anybody would want to park there if they were not a hotel customer). Breakfast had a pretty reasonable selection of continental and hot options, although I found the layout not entirely logical and had to look for some items that were not where I would have expected."

"Good hotel providing excellent value for money. Room was not fancy but had everything I needed. Bathroom had been modernised and had a new walk in shower replacing the bath which I was very pleased with. "

"Lovely room. Breakfast in the room (cereals yoghurt juice etc) really easy and quick when on the go, the pub itself is very welcoming large selection of beers and the food was great!"

"The landlady was very helpful and we even got a coupon from gardener’s world to visit gardens for half price. We could eat the plums and apples from the trees.On arrival there were flowers and a welcome package of essentials. She was the best landlady you could have."
