"Ok"

Dalhousie Castle

"Grounds and castle were beautiful. Unfortunately spa facility’s were not open, nor were 2 of the 3 restaurants. Service was somewhat inconsistent, especially at the bar. We sat for 10 minutes before bartender acknowledged us, only after me asking if we could get a drink. Same experience in the restaurant - one night was great and next night we weren’t even offered wine and drink list. Very odd."

"Unfortunately this property has seen better days. It’s a deteriorating manor house in serious need of TLC. I wouldn’t recommend for other solo female travelers as my door’s lock was shoddy and there’s no in person staff to check you in and assist you if there’s issues. It was overpriced for what it was and I regret not saying in a Premier Inn nearby that would’ve been cheaper, cleaner and better serviced."

"A fantastic location and great staff, unfortunately the property needs an overhaul, tired and under maintained rooms and bathrooms made it an uncomfortable stay. The property felt like it just fell in from the 1960’s, including the internet, I spent 2 nights there for business, however, I couldn’t hence hold video conference calls as the WiFi was at best non-existent…!"

"Lovely stay. Our room had previously been the old public bar, so was huge! Decor was a little tired and could do with a refresh (especially the bathroom - such a wasted opportunity not to put a bigger bath in there)! The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was delicious - such a treat to have kippers, being on a ban at home for them! Would recommend and definitely stay again!"

"We stayed on floor 2 in a classic double room - quite dated, the toilet made the loudest most horrendous noise when flushed for 20 seconds, the bath was greasy with hair in it and the walls are paper thin! I have emailed management and told the reception of these issues along with being kept up until 3am with noises from every single direction, neighbors toilets also made that noise and god the headboard banged and shook with whatever next door were doing all night. I was offered 30% off the next stay, but I would not stay again - save your money and go elsewhere as you will not get a good nights sleep - not value at all for £137 a night, was like a loud hostel"

"Possibly the worst place I’ve ever stayed. I didn’t receive the check in instructions, so on arriving had to spend around an hour trying to figure things out. There are no staff at the property and the phone number on their website is incorrect. Room had no bin, no mirror or tea & coffee facilities. This is a basic. No outdoor lighting and slippery broken decking steps is a health and safety hazard. Another guest kept leaving the main door open, and one night I took my dog out in the night to find other guests out in the garden smoking drugs. Absolutely unacceptable on all counts."
