"Location was convenient, good transport links into the centre of Oxford and hotel was cheaper in cost than the more centrally located ones. Room was compact, okay for a few nights but may have been more of an issue if staying for longer. No chair or table, no tea/coffee making facilities. The only bin was located in shower room. Bed was comfortable but the room was far too hot even with the air con on. Window didn't open and air con too far away from the bed to make it effective. Made for an uncomfortable couple of nights sleep unfortunately. Shower room was perfectly functional if quite small. A separate hand towel or hair towel would have been appreciated. Overall it was a cheap hotel that was quite good value for money, just a few tweaks and it could have been excellent. "

"A thoroughly enjoyable experience throughout. Although the rooms were a little dated and the beds uncomfortable, the staff were exceptionally helpful and the food and drinks were excellent."

"So sad to see this grand old hotel in such a sorry sate. It should not be open for bookings. Filthy bathroom with ancient fittings neither bath nor retained water. Zero facilities and broken lift which has been broken months I had to carry one ladies bags to her room as she could not and no staff to help. It is clear the owners are just taking money as long as they can putting nothing in until it’s inevitable closure. Do not book here location does not compensate for dire state."

"The first room we were given stunk of cigarette smoke coming from the bathroom. Odd as the room had been cleaned. The reception staff immediately gave us a better room. I also found it a little weird that the hallways were so dim (?). The wall sconces were on but didn’t throw much light. "

"The staff at check in were extremely helpful and frie dly. The room was clean and very dark, although there was plenty of lighting, it was subdued. It was impractical having to walk all the way round the bed to wash your hands after using the toilet. Having a small sink in with the toilet would have been more convenient and sanitary."
