There is so much beauty at Oak Openings. Twisted trees and dense forest and deer. Just amazing.
Know all over Ohio as the Ohio PNW tall pine spot, this place doesn’t disappoint. Although I suggest coming when it’s a bit drier out. The mosquitos were ridiculous!! Sand dunes in Ohio?! Who knew... This is the beach left behind 11,000 years ago by the receding waters of Lake Warren. The waters receded back to the current Lake Erie, leaving behind the Great Black Swamp, which measured 120 miles long and 40 miles wide. The one oasis from the muck and the mire was an oak-covered savanna with sand dunes that is now Oak Openings Metropark.

Very pet friendly. Parking instructions included the left side of the house in the driveway, but it was blocked by the upstairs residence the entire time, but street parking was readily available. Place was super clean and cozy. Beds were comfortable, and area was quiet. Very nice stay!

Didn't get to visit Swanton. I didn't know Toledo had so many fun things to do, so will come back again someday to check them out. I have been to the Toledo Zoo and Imagination Station with my kids in the past and loved them!
