We stayed midweek in April (which is off-peak, “shoulder season”) and payed $150/night for a small double room with no breakfast, stay over service or microwave. I found the lack of microwaves, in the rooms or another accessible location on the property very irksome and inconvenient, when properties that charge less usually have them. They had one in their kitchen and 3 out of 4 of the front desk staff were open to heating food for us, but one was not, and he was unfortunately the first one we had encountered.
The reason this was such a sticking point for us is that we are a family of four who came to Tahoe City to spring ski Palisades at Tahoe on a budget (we have Ikon passes and our own equipment to that end), and can’t afford to eat out for every meal, particularly at the sort of quant, medium to high-end restaurants that predominate in Tahoe City. So we typically buy prepared foods that require microwaving for one or more meals a day, and I didn’t relish having to go “hat in hand” to the front desk to ask them to heat four separate plates of food, particularly when the lac
