Cabanas is a small village the apartment is situated in probably the best area of the town just a short walk from many local bars and family owned restaurants serving fantastic fresh local cuisine, there are also shops selling jewellery and local crafts. Everything is in easy walking distance including the supermarket which is only 200 metres away. There is a good bus and train service nearby, with the historical town of Tavira only 5 km away. The Spanish border is only 30 minutes by away by train, with the river Guardiana separating Portugal from Spain with forts either side. Definitely worth a trip. Cabanas has a friendly atmosphere and is safe for children. It is also relatively cheap to eat and drink out. The trains are regular and travel East towards Spain and West towards Faro. Seville is only a couple of hours away .
