"If you want to stay in a central location, this one fits the bill. It is an older hotel with no elevator and overpriced for what was provided. From the moment we walked in, we had several issues...we waited 10-15 min just to be able to get into our room and it was after check-in time when we arrived. Then we got to the room after a very hot trip from Tunis and wanted to shower, but there were no towels in our room. We called down and they told us they would be brought up soon. We had to call again and waited over an hour to receive towels which should should have been a basic thing in the room. We also had no blow dryer provided and apparently there was only one in the whole hotel, but two days later they bought some new ones. We also had to ask for more toilet paper and our rooms were never cleaned over three nights. There was also no water or basic bathroom toiletries provided in the rooms which seems crazy to me at $100 a night. Staff, particularly the women, were none too friendly or helpful. There was also a definite language barrier, so don't expect English. The highlight was the breakfast that was included. Was disappointed all around."

"This is a good hotel that is having trouble keeping up standards. The staff are usually very helpful, and the beach is one of the best. However, so many small things were annoying. Even as we arrived, the receptionist had written down our room number ambiguously in a way that caused us and the porter to go to the wrong room. The first few days were hot even by Tunisian standards and the room air conditioning could not cope. It was always too loud, but at least was fine as the temperature dropped. Food smells were strong from the balcony or the halls. The shower door allowed water to flood out after use - this was fixed after we complained, but proof of poor maintenance. Our room card stopped working after exactly seven days - even though the hotel knew how long we were staying. If their policy is just to grant seven days access they must tell us surely? One of the most annoying things was the ATM never worked for us, or anyone else. This would be no issue in many places, but the Steigenberger is isolated and needs a drive to get to a working ATM in the town. The basic standard of the food was fine, but there was a lack of actual Tunisian food in favour of bland euro stuff. Unforgivably, there was no decent coffee - only instant Nescafe - completely unforgivable in a country with good coffee, For this reason alone, I won't return. We think the small beach restaurant gave us a stomach bug from hygiene problems. These could all be fixed, but limit your stay until then!"

"We had a near perfect stay at Africa Jade. The staff is very friendly and attentive to all our needs. The beach is very well maintained and the water is pristine. Beach umbrellas and towels are provided as needed. The food was excellent. The place has three restaurants on the property. Plenty of entertainment available for kids and adults like. We will definitely come back!"
