Statue of Vakhtang Gorgasali, the supposed discoverer of the city of Tbilisi. According to legend, he was out hunting in the woods one day, when he shot an arrow at a pheasant. He shot his arrow with such strength, that both the arrow and the bird were plunged into the ground. By pure happenstance, he managed to drive the bird into a boiling hot sulphur spring, and when he pulled the bird out of the ground, it emerged, FULLY COOKED! Upon seeing this, he decided that this was the perfect location to build a new city. This is supposedly how Tbilisi got the name Tbilisi - it roughly translates to "warm."

We took the suite on the last floor that was modern and comfortable. Bed was very comfortable. Shower need some work with water drainage. The location is walkable to city center .

Everything was perfect! The hotel is very clean and comfortable, and the restaurant has a beautiful vintage style. The location is also great — right in the city center, close to everything. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend it!

The newly elected mayor of Tbilisi vowed to have this structure removed as soon as possible. He claimed that the structure didn't fit in at all with the decrepit Soviet-era structures in the area. After a considerable bit of protest on social media, plans to remove this structure look to have been delayed - though I wouldn't be surprised if this structure is removed in the middle of the night at some future point.
