There are no nearby retail options so you do need to be relatively self contained - there are nearby beach and historic tumbledown buildings and wharf to explore as well as other sightseeing options within easy driving distance - a great place for a few days away from it all and to chill or to explore - getting there is a significant drive, as there are only two access directions via either Whakatane or Gisborne, but in this reviewers opinion, well worth the effort - accommodation was fully equipped for cooking although we had evening meals both nights at the local pub in the bay - good menu choices, simple and well prepared"
