"Great hotel close to all the sights in and around Ninh Binh. Our room was clean and spacious and having a balcony was a perfect spot to have a beer and enjoy the beautiful scenery below. Breakfast was very good and there were enough food options to fill you up prior to the start of the day. We also found the hotel to be very quiet and the rooftop bar was amazing. It was so great that it actually attracted people that were not even guests at the hotel. All the staff were amazing and always willing to help out when needed. It was wonderful having bikes available and we put them to good use exploring the area and even taking them to Mua Cave to explore Ngoa Long Mountain. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would certainly recommend the hotel for anyone looking for a spot close to the action. "

"This family owned hotel is very welcoming and warm! The breakfast was very good and with a good variety of fresh fruits. The bed was comfortable. Take note that some rooms are ground-level and you will only know which room you will have upon arrival. We chose the mountain view but we got our room on the ground level, so from the balcony you can't really see it due to the vegetation. "

"Beautiful spot but the room had mold everywhere (curtains, walls, ceiling) and there was black mold in the shower. Breakfast was ok but nothing was labeled and as a vegetarian I wasn’t sure what had meat or not. We ended up checking out early "

"Whoever issues this sort of review request should check carefully before sending it. We were not able to stay at the Retreat because our flights to Vietnam were cancelled because of the war in Iran. We knew that the Retreat booking was not cancellable, but they would not offer us credit towards a future stay if we manage to re-arrange this once in a lifetime holiday. All we can say is that the Retreat was the most expensive of the places we were due to stay on our travels and therefore would hope that it lived up to the cost. We wish them well but are not likely to go there when we finally get to Vietnam. "

"Not a huge choice in Breakfast menu but completely adequate. Did have options of freshly made eggs such as scrambled or fried etc as most we have seen. Friendly staff and helpful when required. The little bungalow room was ideal, really nice and clean, not a huge amount of space and a bit tight on suitcase space when just travelling for a few nights but no drama. Was within a 600m walk to centre of tam cóc which was fine, easy walk and nice to be a short way out of the bustle. Overall we were really happy with the stay and would recommend to others"

"Photos look nicer than the actual property, although it looks nice at night. Picturesque and quiet location. Nice trail walk to town. Breakfast was poor, only black tea and coffee and run out very quickly, we asked several times for coffee and they ignored us, more a 3 stars breakfast overall. Rooms very basic."
