Very Good

Our only problem was finding something to eat for dinner. Majority of the places/restaurants were closing around 5:00pm. Very hard to find something to eat!!!
Room is dated, smell musty, has some kind of water spots on the wall (I dread to know from what!). Size was just ok, comparabe to some other ryokans, around 6 tatami.
Reception was not friendly (in fact, downright rude!) nor accommodating. They enforce the 3pm check in time like military dictatorship. I came 10mins before 3pm and asked if I could just sit at the sofa in the lobby. I was asked to leave! And this was after being ignored by a receptionist, who chose to acknowledge a Japanese couple who came right after me instead, like I was a shadow. At other ryokan, they'd allow you take a seat and sometimes even serve you a cup of hot tea while still enforcing the check-in time.
I wanted to add meals to my stay, the answer was a terse 'no', and I was shown a resto map of the town. I understand that some ryokan require an advance reservation for meals, and if so, please just explain and no need to be rude about it.
The receptionist did not even bother to explain about the different onsens in town, which one is closed or open and at what time, what to see around, good place to get a specialty meal, etc. They didn't show pride in the area or care about sharing information to guests. For these people, it was about collecting money, checking you in and go figure out stuff yourself. An oddity compared to other ryokans I have stayed in.
I definitely did NOT feel welcome to this ryokan and surely won't be back
Overall is bad. The safety of the Share bath room is,an issue. The hotel guy come into the bathroom when i was naked in the shared bathroom with my daughter. No way to complain as he was the only man in the hotel. Electricity is an issue as the hotel room sudden black out when we use the hair dryer in our room. Entire hotel has a bad smell due to the dated carpet. If you are a female even with your hubby and boyfriend, better npt to choose this lousy hotel in this beautiful place.
