We really enjoyed our stay but must say we did miss having a television in our room. It is such a peaceful place to stay considering the traffic outside front and back entrances.
Loved that either side of the property was open fields. Fantastic location, great eating options easily within walking distance. Supermarket very close too. We had Super Deluxe Room and it was huge. Loved it. Staff are very attentive and accommodating, will definitely stay at Tegal Sari Accommodation again. I also liked the cold, filtered water facility at reception.
A very good place to stay—clean and calming, surrounded by nature. However, there is room for improvement in the facilities. Firstly, there is no iron readily available in the room, and when we requested one, we were informed that there are only two irons for the entire hotel. Secondly, when we sent our shirts and shawls for laundry ironing service, the hotel returned them folded, not on hangers. It seems counterintuitive to iron clothes only to fold them afterward. Additionally, the water pressure is low in the bathroom.
It is hard to describe the wonderful oasis of this hidden gem in the heart of Ubud. Staff are kind, attentive and helpful. We rented a one bedroom “Villa” with private pool for 3 nights and wished it was more. The Villa had all the necessities including an enormous outdoor tub. The small kitchen area is well equipped, the beds were comfortable with high quality sheets. Sprawling views of rice paddy fields right in front of you with ducks and people tending the crops. There is an organic garden, an outdoor gym and two pools. From the fish pond in front of the villa to the staff member who ensured we met our 3:30am driver for the sunrise tour this place is paradise. It is a 5-10 minute walk from Monkey Forest and right in the heart of Ubud with its shops, restaurants and cool vibe. Don’t miss out on a once in a lifetime experience staying at this incredible place. Remember too that you are in Bali and with it’s hot climates there are certain “pests” like ants who live among the very natural surroundings. They are no bother unless you make them so. On occasion there is no hot water but then I refer you back to the fact again, you are visiting paradise :)
We've stayed at Tegal before in a more traditional room at the Jl. Hanoman end. It was good, with views both sides of ricefields & very quiet.
One of the problems with this place is that rooms vary a lot from each other in terms of what you get. We decided to pay a lot more this time for an upstairs room (No. 26 - AVOID IT!) in the more modern section which looked & sounded good on their website...as they always do! The room had absolutely no Balinese character except for the roof. You could have been anywhere, not even necessarily in Asia. Artwork, such as it was, was unattractive generic modern stuff.
We had one outdoor terrace with uncomfortable sun lounges (we had to ask for cushions), a view of three walls & across a shabby ricefield to an old concrete block of 5 story holiday units. On the front enclosed, viewless, upstairs porch were two uncomfortable chairs they eventually replaced with something slighlty better.
They offered us DVDs to watch but the player wasn't working. It was fixed but the CDs were all scratced & unwatchable.
The shower barely worked & the bathroom was run down. Generally this room wasn't inviting & we avoided spending time in it.
Very bad value for money! Half the rate might have been OK.
Staff are friendly here & did their best to help but...
Pool on ground level is lovely.
Ubud is very busy these days, traffic is crazy & crossing roads requires a dare-devil approach.
We'll probably head somewhere else for our Asia break next time.
