The Westin Ubud is a visually stunning property with some standout features. The infinity pool is absolutely beautiful, and the buffet breakfast was a true feast—plentiful, fresh, and satisfying. The shuttle service into town was also a convenient and much-appreciated option. The room and restaurant staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely excellent throughout our stay.
Unfortunately, the experience was let down by several service-related issues that are difficult to overlook, especially for a hotel that presents itself as a premium destination.
The check-in process was particularly disappointing. While other guests were given guided tours of the hotel, we were simply told to have a seat with no further information. The staff member who checked us in offered no explanation of the hotel’s amenities or services, leaving us to discover things gradually over the next few days.
We reported a couple of room issues—a balcony door that wouldn’t lock and a large mat that posed a trip hazard—but nothing was done for three days. Additionally, we could clearly hear children playing and walking in the rooms above us, which disrupted the peaceful environment we were hoping for.
To make matters worse, during our first dinner we were approached—right at the table and in front of other guests—about our check-in concerns. This was uncomfortable and felt quite inappropriate.
