We heard the area was a bit dangerous, but we didn't have any issues, and the hotel is locked up at night. "I did not realize that I booked the smallest room with the worst location on the property. The room size was ok, bed was comfortable. The bathroom was so small there was not even room for a toilet paper holder. We were adjacent to a walkway and parking lot so the room with no air conditioning ended up being a bit noisy at night. We had access to the hot-tub and steam room which was nice and breakfast was good. The staff was friendly as everyone in Ecuador seems to be. If I did the trip again I probably would not go to Banos, the town was larger and less quaint than I expected."
