  • The Church of Santa Lucia, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, is located on the hill of the same name in the city of Viana do Castelo. The church was built on the site of a small medieval chapel, known as a pilgrimage site for people with eye diseases. The construction of the temple lasted from 1904 to 1959. The eclectic-style Miguel Ventura Terra project combines neo-romanticism, neo-Gothic and Byzantine architecture. It is generally accepted that the architect was inspired by the forms of the Sacre Coeur Basilica in Paris. To the foot of the church at a height of 195 meters above sea level there is a line of a funicular built in 1923. Tourists can take the elevator to the observation deck under the very dome of the church. A panoramic view of the Lima River valley, mountains and the Atlantic Ocean opens from the platform. In 1927, National Geographic magazine named this species the third most beautiful in the world.

The building is older but the rooms are updated and very nice, very comfortable bed and big walk in shower. The indoor pool and sauna are a big plus for me! You can walk all around the old town from here, which is really charming.

The hotel had a lot of amenities like a pool, hot tub, bar, and breakfast. It was clean and close to the main city area. The room was pretty small, but it had AC, which was nice.

Everything was great, staff is very nice and helpful. Additional thanks to hotel Rali that they agreed to relocate us when another hotel that we previously booked canceled everything without informing us. Things to improve - reduce the humidity level, maybe improve ventilation and conditioning system in rooms. But it didn’t cause problems for us

deceitful and poor customer service

deceitful and poor customer service - for 2 reasons. 1) receptionist did not inform me that breakfast was at an extra charge when i checked in - i am on camino and many places are offering breakfast so i went assuming the same. it even said the breakfast hours on the room key card so i just assumed it was included. if there is a charge then reception should be informing us, i am happy to pay for things when i have neen adequately warned of the cost beforehand. i cannot eat meat/dairy/eggs, so i couldnt even eat much there apart from bread - if id known it cost money i obviously would not have had the breakfast as i couldnt eat most of it. if id have been able to eat the food, this hidden charge would have bothered me less. i tried to explain nicely at checkout when they tried to charge me as i was shocked, but they kept arguing so i paid to avoid confrontation. i did think if they understood the error/misunderstanding they may have waived the fee, but very disappointing and unkind customer service over something that was the hotel's fault in which they did not inform me a) that there was a charge and b) how much it was. 2. they also do not inform you that you cannot use the pool without a swim cap until you arrive to the hotel, and then charge you to buy one. they should inform guests before coming so we can bring ours from home. feels like a deceitful way to make money. they also charge for towel hire but dont allow you to use the room towel, another money-making scheme.

Séjour d'une nuit convenable. Hotel qui fait un peu vieillot, odeur de nettoyage (je pense à cause de la javel) très forte au moment de rentrer dans la chambre. Chambre spacieuse et confortable. Personnel très agréable et serviable. La chambre donnait sur une route très fréqentée + chemin de fer avec passage de fret la nuit. Petit déjeuner copieux et varié.
