About 6 km outside Gajana lies the medieval town of Vodnjan, where you can still admire Baroque, Renaissance and Gothic architecture in the town centre. Everywhere you look, you’ll see many details from different eras, such as wooden doors, stone façades and wrought-iron ornaments on fountains. Typical old, narrow Istrian streets, paved with stones, lead to the church, which boasts the tallest bell tower in the whole of Istria. As transport links in Istria are good, you can hop in the car at any time and go on a day trip. After a short drive of 20 to 40 minutes through the beautiful countryside, you’ll reach the major coastal towns of Pula, Rovinj and Poreč.
