"I was at Haven, formerly Hotel Schmidt-Monique in Bochum for 8-days. I arrived 25-minutes before the “official” check-in time and was told I could check-in early for €20. Needless to say I waited the 25 minutes. The new owners are focussing on the hotel so the restaurant that was originally part of the hotel complex is currently closed. "Room was clean. Some new facilities but mostly old furniture from previous hotel brand. Carpets marked and stained from where previous furniture was. Shower was dangerous. Burning hot water then ice cold, without moving temperature control. In 6 days I never once managed to shower without being burned. Room temperature was unpleasant, even with provided fan running constantly. Airflow from it barely reached 2 feet away. I wouldn't like to stay there when it was warm outside as room temperature...

"New hotel in a new environment with good breakfast, clean rooms, easily accessible by walk and car via car parking downstairs. "

"Lovely friendly hotel, lovely front of house member of staff gave us a drink free of charge on arrival as such a hot day and we walked from town (mainly uphill!) We only stayed one night, all was great, right next to starlight express and some lovely touches e.g. photobooth Would recommend to anyone!"
