"The bed was awful and very uncomfortable. There was no conditioner in the bathroom and when asked to fill it up they still didn't do it. "

"I love this hotel and how central it is to everything. It is usually my preferred spot in Portland. This time around, though, there were some issues with the room amenities that no one seemed to be that concerned with fixing. One of the plugs on the bedside lamp was in dire need of replacing, would not hold any power adapter. Neither would the bathroom plug, had to hold the very old and underpowered hair dryer in with one hand in order for it to make contact. The hair dryers should also be upgraded. My TV seemed to have a line of close captions stuck to the screen, no matter what channel you tried to watch and how many times you turned them on or off. Called the front desk about it and they said they would send someone up. I had the Do Not Disturb sign on, but being that someone specifically called, they could’ve at least knocked on the door or called me. No, whoever it was, just decided to walk away. Oh, and the TV shows you that you could connect your Netflix account, but that is a lie, the TVs do not actually support that connection. You won’t get this information until you try it, doesn’t work, and you call the front desk, who will very despondently tell you “at least the cable works, right?”. Well yes, with a stupid caption that I cannot take off. Still unbeatable location, still lovely old facility, still (mostly) great staff. Just those small things that can sour your stay and consider looking for a different base while in Portland."

"Loved everything. Perfect location for walking. The evening reception (with free cocktails?!) and complimentary breakfast were above any expectations. There are 2 hot tubs! Room was spacious and clean, and the staff was great. Will stay here again. 😊"

"Very enjoyable stay at the Benson. Staff was super friendly, and the room was comfortable, well appointed, and clean. My only "negative" is that the disabled friendly (no steps) entrance was almost always locked from the outside, even during the day. This was a minor inconvenience for me, as I am mostly mobile, but would have been a major one were I in a wheelchair. Otherwise, it is a fabulous hotel and I would absolutely stay again!"

"Had a great stay, front desk staff and valets were great. Walls are pretty thin though! Noise in hallway and rooms next door really carries through into room"

"Was under construction, which meant the restaurant hours were effected by this and also in room dining. Not a luxury experience at all having to pay a resort fee seemed totally unnecessary I’d say considering. Won’t be giving this property another try which is a same as it’s a very historic Portland location but under new ownership and has lost all of its magic. "
