"A lovely, quaint and homely guest house with friendly, helpful staff. My room was clean, comfortable, warm and cosy. I was given a guided tour of the breakfast facilities upon check in and then shown to my room. The breakfast itself next morning was delicious and made to order. Rothay Garth is situated right at the heart of Ambleside, with all the local amenities only a couple of minute's walk away. There was also ample free parking on the premises. I would recommend this guest house and have already booked another stay. "

"This property is well situated with easy access to a variety of walks. We had two cars and parking wasn’t a problem. The only problem was that I reported a leak from the boiler which resulted in no hot water or heating for 3 of our 4 day stay. The immersion heater didn’t work, but luckily one of the bathrooms had an electric shower. The letting agent was able to provide some electric heaters, again luckily. Obviously this was disappointing but we managed. What’s disappointing is that we have had no communication from the property owner, even via the agent. And my request for a partial refund appears to have fallen on deaf ears. Having said all that, the location of this property is great, on the whole it’s comfortable and if everything works it’s perfect for a group of adults. I wouldn’t t recommend it for children due to the steep stone steps outside. "

"Got a last minute deal and was then upgraded. Very comfy bed, quiet room wifi worked well , refurbished shower hot and strong. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious . Minimal staff tried hard and very friendly. "
