Free street parking out front, a 15-minute walk to Braddock Road Metro, and a short drive to Old Town, Reagan National and downtown DC. The Junction bakery and Mount Vernon Avenue are a few blocks away.

Del Ray is Alexandria's main-street neighborhood, and Alexandria was just voted the #2 small city in America by Conde Nast Traveler readers (2026). Mount Vernon Avenue, which locals call The Avenue, is two blocks from the house, a four-minute walk: a mile of independent restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, a frozen-custard stand and outdoor beer gardens, with murals on the walls and strollers and dogs on the sidewalks. The Del Ray Farmers Market runs every Saturday, year-round, 8 to noon. My picks: the Junction for coffee and pastries, and Matt and Tony's for lunch or dinner. Local favorites nearby include The Garden beer garden (five minutes on foot), Evening Star Cafe, Cheesetique for wine and cheese, Holy Cow for burgers, Stomping Ground for biscuits, and the Dairy Godmother for frozen custard. There is a fenced dog park at Simpson Park, a ten-minute walk. Old Town Alexandria is less than ten minutes by car.

You have the whole house, the deck and the fenced backyard to yourselves. Self check-in: the keys are in a coded lockbox on the railing by the front door, and I send the code the day before you arrive.

All three bedrooms have king beds. The primary bedroom upstairs has windows on two sides, a ceiling fan and a desk and chair for anyone who needs to work. The second upstairs bedroom has a smart TV. The basement bedroom has a sitting area with a table, chairs and a large Samsung QLED TV.

The kitchen has a gas range, dishwasher, granite counters and everything you need to cook a real meal. I'm a coffee fanatic, so you'll find whole-bean coffee, a grinder and a selection of teas ready for you.

Out back is a fenced yard of about 2,500 square feet with a deck under a pergola, a teak dining table with chairs, string lights and a gas grill. Cornhole and croquet are in the yard, and dogs have room to run.

Layout: the main floor has the family room, dining room and kitchen. The second floor has two bedrooms and a full bath with tub and shower. The basement has the third bedroom, a second full bath with tub and shower, and the laundry room with washer, dryer and free detergent.

The house sleeps 6. For families with little ones there is a crib, a Pack 'n Play, a high chair and a stair gate.

The furniture is Danish and Swedish, and the prints on the walls are by a well-known Swedish drone photographer. Fast WiFi throughout, smart TVs, and central air and heat on an Ecobee thermostat.

Free street parking right in front of the house. Braddock Road Metro is a 15-minute walk (just under a mile) or a 3-minute drive, with direct trains into DC. Capital Bikeshare and scooter rentals are on Mount Vernon Avenue, two blocks from the house. By car: Old Town under 10 minutes, Reagan National about 15 minutes, and downtown DC about 20 minutes outside rush hour.

This is a three-story house with stairs between every level, and there is no bathroom on the main floor. The house has central air; the smaller upstairs bedroom also has a window air-conditioning unit. A professional cleaning team cleans and inspects the house between every stay.
