Comfortable, well-appointed and located

Has become our home from home on visits to Whanganui. The apartment has everything we need and is well located near the centre of town. It's nice to get a friendly welcome too with the heater turned on pre-arrival on a cool evening.

Check in was a pleasure. The owners were very friendly and helpful. They even offered to drop us off for dinner. The accommodation was very clean and beds were comfortable. Location was within easy walking distance to shopping and dining. I would stay here again if I was staying in the area.

Comfortable unit in great location

It was a roomy unit with everything we needed and a few extras like plunger coffee, welcoming chocolates and spark sport for the cricket. Also located alongside Cook Gardens and close to restaurants and the well-maintained heritage buildings

The new owners have updated many things with quality products. For example, heatpumps and beds/linen. Makes for a very comfortable stay. The high reviews that the motel has got, is certainly well deserved. I definitely recommend staying here.

Property was very basic and lacked any type of service. They even forgot to service our room for basic items like towels… they make a big deal in the room information sheet about daily room make up and cleaning. Rooms are very noisy, can hear what the room next door is saying and doing very clearly. Heating is poor and very noisy, no heat pumps or any form of cooling. Clean but wouldn’t stay again.

Very friendly owners/ staff and helpful, everything was absolutely perfect... apart from the beds.... too soft, and pillows too hard, this is of course a personal preference and not the motels fault!!! However, none of us slept well unfortunately.... we would definitely return but bring our own pillows next time.

Friendly and helpful owners

We were pleased with the accommodations at Cook Gardens in Whanganui. Great facilities in the units with kitchenette and dining table & chairs, couch in lounge area with Netflix & Sky on the TV. A separate bedroom and large bathroom with small spa bath and separate shower. Area to sit outside the room and free parking. We didn’t have a car but found it easy to walk around the town. About 20 mins walk to the river and less to the town centre. Owners were very friendly and gave us a lift to the riverside a couple of times. Easy to find out way around and mainly flat.
