Shepherds Lodge was great!!! Well appointed kitchen, nice bathroom amenities, towels, toilet paper, paper towels, etc. The house was clean, beds were comfortable; we will definitely re book house!!

Five of us gathered for our annual reading retreat, and this property was the perfect backdrop for relaxation and girl time. The host was incredibly responsive to all of my planning questions, and the house was warm and accommodating. We cooked, read, napped, laughed, and explored. We thoroughly enjoyed the wraparound porch, the hot tub, the cozy sitting area downstairs, and the close access to Wimberley's cutest restaurants and shops. Would absolutely stay here again!

The kids loved the place, they didn’t want to leave, huge space with swings, hammock, treehouse, and best of all peace and the hot tub pool. The outside patio areas were so nice. We will definitely be back. The staff was super timely. We have been staying in different homes around the area of Wimberely since 2020 and this is at the top for our family of 5.

We had a wonderful time staying at this house! The house is spacious and has huge dining areas inside and outside for big meals. The kitchen was very well equipped with cooking tools and pots and pans. Pool was beautiful and everything was clean and ready for us when we got there! Definitely recommend.

Great family place!

Brought the family for a late Christmas! Enjoyed the area and place very much! Perfect for a group or family vacation! The kids really enjoyed the space, house, hot tub, tree house and game room area!

In December, so it takes a while for the hot tub to heat up, but it works, and was enjoyed. The pool pump ran 24 hours which as a annoying in such a quiet setting. The fireplace worked, it was fun. The rooms are not as big as they seem on line, but the house was very nice. We ate outside once, very nice under the lights, especially if you BBQ. We saw deer, fox, cats, goats, turkeys, chickens, and more. Ice maker and fridge water were not working, ice trays were provided! Would stay again!

Great house!

We really enjoyed our stay at Sheperd's Lodge. There was plenty of room for our entire family. The house has great amenities. The only thing I would suggest is organizing the kitchen and do a deep cleaning under furniture.

December Visit

This beautiful home was perfect for our big family. 5 bedrooms and a large living area with lots of seating for movies. We loved having the hot tub- it is also roomy and 8 of us fit comfortably. The porch and outdoor seating are extensive and the property is lovely. The service was excellent- every question we had both before and during the visit was answered immediately. We will definitely stay here again.

Great Memories for our Family

Our family recently lost the elder male of our tribe. Deciding to celebrate my wife’s 40th birthday with our family at this beautiful home was a great decision. The spacious and functional home was second to the deck and pool/hot tub combo. The home facilitated fun and great memories for our family but also healing. Maybe that is why it is called the Shepherd House?

NYE Getaway

The house was perfect for our group. Super close to Wimberley Square and H-E-B, which was nice. The house was clean and accommodated all our needs. Property manager also very easy to get into contact with when we needed help turning on the hot tub. Downstairs water never got hot but we just took turns upstairs. One room was advertised as only having a twin bed, but it actually ended up being a Queen which was perfect! We will for sure be back.

Shepherd's Lodge Weekend

We gathered at Shepherd's Lodge for a family wedding in the area. The house worked out well for the members we had with us. The pool and the outside porches were great to enjoy the warm weather. We were disappointed to learn that the 1st floor shower did not get hot water as we had family member's that didn't do well with stairs. This had been shown in previous reviews, but we thought repairs would have been completed. The kitchen sink faucet was very loose. It functioned fine but was a bit difficult to maneuver. Great location so close to Wimberly. Overall, great time had by all.

This property was a comfortable fit for our family of 6 adults. I loved that it was so close to Wimberly. It is “lodge like”, a bit darker finishes and lots of wood, but very charming. That said, it was a huge disappointment that the water filter and ice maker in the fridge still don't work. I saw this in another review, but assumed it would be fixed. I drink ice water all day long, so it was a big inconvenience for me. Also, I had forgotten about the hot and cold water being reversed in the main floor bath, and the first few showers were freezing! The pool and deck area is beautiful, but the hot tub doesn't heat up. It was never warmer than the pool. This could be a 5 star property if these issues were fixed

NO RIVER ACCESS

Two families (ten people) ages 8-50 booked this place just after Christmas to have a little hill country getaway because it listed that there was river access across the street. It was a focus of the trip to walk down there with the littler kids in the mornings to do a little fishing with uncles and cousins. There is actually NO real access at all. I mean, you can go where they tell you and immediately get into the water - but it is all private property on either side of the bridge. When we tried to address this with them they told us that we should just fish off of the bridge - but there are signs saying that is not allowed. It is very clear from the signs and fences that no one is supposed to be there. The company is not taking any responsibility for this misrepresentation. Clearly they market it as having river access bc not only is it in the listing, but when we contacted them about where to go (bc we saw all the no trespassing signs and assumed we were just in the wrong place) they responded with maps and pictures saying that was the place that had access. I then got a message a day early saying we needed to be out by 10am. No one responded to my messages - so we left. Still haven’t heard from them about what is going on. Sure hope they give us our money back for that last night. Have a complaint with VRBOThe property is also pretty old and tired. I can see how it was once nice, but they aren’t cleaning it well or fixing things. Not worth the money.

It was a wonderful place for a girlfriend get away! Plenty of places to sit and visit, play cards, and swim! We couldn’t get hot tub quite hot enough but it was still enjoyable! Would definitely come back

Excellent Family experience

We enjoyed our stay! The property had all the cooking tools, nice space for family of 12. Love the land and peaceful environment. The kids enjoyed the pool and adults loved the patio and porch space. Clean linens and towels. Host were prompt with communication. Close to town 6 min commute. We def will recommend and be back ! Thank you!

All very good. Only issue was hot tub didn't heat up. Followed all the directions, including making sure all other heat draws were not being used. Tried all three nights. A standard hot tub controller with temp reading, display of on/off, etc could help.
