The original room we were given was occupied. The next room had a broken TV. The third room had a toilet seat that was so loose you felt like you were on a rollercoaster. The blankets had cigarette burns in them, and though the room was non-smoking it smelled like cigarettes. The staff was friendly and worked with us to fix the room issues she could control.
Pictures on Google are incorrect there is no inside to this motel, was not a safe area, called for hours about a late arrival no one answered, Orbitz themselves tried before and after I arrived, nothing (the calls started at a normal check-in time.). Didn’t get to stay, not that I would want to with the activity going on currently in a dispute for a refund.
The whole hotel is under construction, which I hope will be better once it is all done because it’s a great location, right by the walking bridge. However, during this construction a lot is not done. The first room I was checked into did not have an AC hooked up and half of the products still were wrapped as if they had been put in the room that day. The night person moved me right away and the next room was fine. There were holes in the wall and unfinished construction in my room when I checked in to that room as well. Very noisy, people walking by the room (on the second floor) at 2 am yelling.
When I First pulled up I started to leave because small groups of ppl walking around , but companions wanted to give it a try …. Checked in lady at front desk was great with good personality . Then it all goes downhill . Got to room and couple guys smoking pot infront of room , went inside and got worse . AC didn’t work , No outlets work , burns in top sheet , stains and some kind of liquid , shower had brown stuff / stains …. I didn’t even unpack , I went back turned keys in , stated issues and left , couple pictures attached .
Couldn’t get towels for 2 days:: housekeepers got me so called clean towels from a dirty room. WiFi didn’t work half the time- There was a lot of ppl hanging around outside of rooms and in parking all loud screaming. Just plain out disrespectful.
I've stayed at Clarion's before and was appalled at how disgusting this place was. It should be condemned and torn down. Dirty sheets. Hair in the bed. Odor of smoke that made me want to vomit. Couch/chair looked liked someone gave birth on it. Door to the bathroom where someone clearly punched and kicked the door and the patch job was terrible. The bypass lock on the outside was drilled out. I felt unsafe as someone could potential enter the room without a key. We checked out and drove 1.5 hrs south as we would not have slept well that evening.
Clarion Pointe Winston-Salem Downtown is, as the name implies, located near the city center. Unfortunately, this hotel appears to be serving as a home for a number of people, and solo travelers and travelers with young children or impressionable teenagers would probably do well to avoid it. I was asked for money by someone in the parking lot within minutes of arriving at the property. A number of people seemed to be hanging out on the property, to the point where on the only full day I stayed in Winston-Salem I made a point of *not* parking at the hotel in the afternoon. I was so uncomfortable at this hotel that I skipped breakfast on my second and last day there. I haven't even mentioned my room. Someone had either smoked or burned incense in mine. Probably related: The smoke detector had been ripped off the wall. The three lamps in the room featured one lightbulb between them. The shower was clean but the toilet did not flush properly and I had to complain twice before anyone tended to it. I do NOT plan to stay here again.
Bathroom had not been cleaned. Residue remaining in toilet. Hair everywhere in shower. Water pipes sound as if they will soon explode. Mold in restroom.
Continental breakfast is an embarrassment.
The first room I was given was filthy and the toilet wouldn’t stop running. I asked for a new room and at that point was just too tired to try for a third time… The only reasonable price for this hotel is free and you clean it yourself. Staff was very nice, but both rooms had a smell to them and neither toilet worked correctly. I’m pretty sure you could find the DNA of at least 15 different people in this hotel room… I don’t think it’s been thoroughly cleaned in months. Breakfast was also slim pickings.
This was a last minute one night day, so I was grateful that the hotel had availability. However, our non-smoking room smelled of thick smoke, the linens did not smell fresh and actually the towel looked so soiled the tank of the toilet was sitting a skew. Our smoke detector was on attached.I did not feel comfortable sleeping in the room. The hotel they give us fresh towels and linens to change our bedding.
Rooms did not smell clean. we ask for non-smoking and the room smelled like smoke. The lamp fixtures were broken. Wifi was terrible. We will never stay here again.
I would say that the room was fair--not great. The bed was comfortable with clean sheets, but the room was supposed to be non-smoking and it smelled a bit of smoke. One bedside lamp was not plugged in as there was no outlet nearby, and the phone at the other bedside table was disconnected. The desk near the front had a lamp that did not work, but thankfully the outlet worked to plug in my cellphone. The bathroom was average with a bathtub that looked liked slightly dirty in places. The room overall was clean and quiet, and the air conditioning worked fine. Some of the furnishings looked worn and needed to be replaced.

I checked in and a separate patron was given the same room key as me so that did not make me feel safe at all. And it doesn’t help that the whole place smells like an ashtray. After finding out I was unexpectedly sharing a room with a random man, I gave back the room key and left. It was so bad I didn’t feel safe enough to spend one night.
