No one around on arrival, had to ring a number to get someone to check me in, not in the booked room as they were double booked. My bathroom had fake grass carpeting - appreciate its hard wearing, but how do you clean it??. Place was tired and dirty. Could not get bedside light to work, then worked out it wasn't plugged in, with no plug socket on that side of the bed, so more of a bedside ornament than a light. Could not find light switch for bathroom, took a while but then found the main bedroom light switch also worked the bathroom light. There is a kitchen for guests to use with both a fridge and a microwave, which i am sure some find very handy, but fake grass carpeting in the kitchen also - no idea how they clean this. Bed was VERY soft and sort of enveloped me, which made me feel a bit trapped. Room was warm and there is ample parking at the back.
No one on reception when I left, otherwise I could have shown them the bites on my legs and arms. I would strongly recommend giving this place a miss
Great for drivers but not for pedestrians! There's a (nearly) lethal two-lane round about to negotiate.... I found a safer route on my third day.... hidden traffic lights are not shown on Google Maps or Michelin!!!!!!?????
I had a lovely room. I found that I had to ring to reach someone to check me in. ALSO NOTE ...there are 2 Elm Roads.... this is at Elm HIGH Road about a mile and a half from town, in the locality of Elm.
Running hot water from hot and cold taps heating on full blast room was untidy bed was broken and we had to be moved out

On arrival tried to explain I had booked a room only to be told by the lady that she didn’t speak English, either did anybody else there. I was handed a phone and spoke to Carmen who said to go to the front of the hotel and your key is hanging in reception help yourself. Room was ok but could have been cleaner.
I arrived at the hotel and there was immediately a problem, I was not having expected and was mixed up with another arrival. The second problem was payment, despite having paid on hotels.com site and been billed, the hotel proprietor insisted that I should make a payment. Cash would have been preferred, and I nearly paid cash, I was tired and just needed to get to my room. Luckily, I realised, in time, that this was not correct. I paid with my credit card. The proprietor then continued to grumble about “Expedia” which was news to me as I had no idea Hotels dot com was Expedia!
I later reported to Hotels.com that I had been charged twice. They couldn’t have been more unhelpful. I’m hoping Barclaycard will sort this out because hotels.com certainly are not up to it
