This church sits on the edge of Wroughton and from the back of the church yard has commanding views for miles around
Wilts and Berks canal, south of Swindon. This stretch of the canal has been restored. For now it doesn't go anywhere as the section with water in it ends about 700 metres further on 1099292 Proposals are sometimes made to restore the canal through Swindon itself. The engineering and financial implications are considerable and it will be many years before that will take place, if it ever does.

Memorial stone, Station Road, Chiseldon, Swindon The stone is a sarsen stone, I believe, as are the much larger examples at Avebury. There is no plaque to give any information about it although carved into it is what looks like a dagger and the numbers '1075-1975', which presumably are dates. The village was mentioned in the Domesday book of 1086 so possibly 1075 represents the first time any mention was ever made of it. The base is getting a bit tatty and could usefully be repaired.
