The room was a bit cramped but was okay for our needs as we were going onward the next day. "This is a lovely hotel, staff were great, food was fabulous. They have an excellent pastry chef. It’s a relaxed hotel in a quiet area. Very handy for travelling by car from Newcastle. One point, some rooms are directly above the function room and there was a wedding on when we were there. They lit fire pits which meant our room quickly filled with the smell of smoke. We had wanted our bedroom window open at night but couldn’t because of the fire pits, even when they moved them round the corner...

"NIce hotel with free overnight on-street parking outside, which starts charging at 9am - if you get a £1 parking disk from local stores you can use to set an arrival time for the next morning which will give you til 11am and can be used widely across Northumberland. The stairs are tight, so if you have heavy luggage you may struggle. Breakfast was great and made getting up for the 10am check out worthwhile."
