The tombs of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and Duchess Sophie Hohenberg are part of a small chapel in the basement level of Austria's Artstetten Castle. History buffs may recall the assassination of the Archduke and his wife Sophie in 1914 during a visit to Serejavo. The assassination, often referred to as "the shot heard round the world," precipitated the Great War, now referred to as World War I. "If you need to stay in St Polten, stay here! New hotel, 10 minutes from the station through the park - an excellent property with superb rooms, my only disappointment was I only stayed one night! Reception very helpful and their recommendation for eating and drinking was spot on."

"Our group only had 1 night here. The stay was pretty comfortable, although it was quite difficult sharing 1 bathroom amongst 5 adults, but we managed. Space was sufficient for us and overall stay was comfortable. Only thing was that floor of the room was like stone/concrete, which didn’t seem comfortable to walk around barefooted. Thankfully we had slippers. There is no free parking onsite, but there is street side parking."
