"They should not call this a resort. It is a motel. The maintenance on this property is poor. There was no proper flooring on the balcony and the entrance to our room. The paint was peeling in our bathroom ceiling. The hot water was lukewarm at best. The hair dryer did not work. For the price of $230 a night you would think that they could afford new face towels that did not have holes in them from excessive use and washing. Luckily for us we only stayed one night. "Just an amazing view! So nice to have chairs at our door to sit and view the water. Staff were so kind and breakfast was great! Loved having breakfast in a historic home! Room and fixtures were a little dated, but clean!"
"Had trouble finding a plug to charge our cell phones; in this search we found a lot of dust and food item from previous person stay. Property looks old and needs a lot fixing up. They don’t offer free breakfast. Doesn’t look like they offer the ability to purchase breakfast.
The one good thing is the air conditioner is very quiet, they’ve invested good money into that."

"Remember this is a motel, not a 4/5 star hotel but having said that, it was very clean, tidy, well maintained, with great helpful staff, in a fantastic location and with a superb restaurant serving both breakfast and evening meals, all at great prices, with quality food/service and plentiful. "This was everything we hoped it would be. Unique, private, clean, well equipped as it should be and convenient to the North coast for all the beauty and wilderness it has to offer. Everything worked except for the weather which no one can control. When I come back to Cape Breton, I will be booking Blue Bayou again and well in advance since it will soon be a must for thousands of Cabot Trail visitors throughout the season."
