It doesn’t get 5 stars cause there isn’t even one cup in the room. Had to make coffee in a paper cup without a spoon and supply your own coffee! Nice view from the window. "It was good. Check-in is a little weird. Staff was a little obnoxious, probably due to La Gaige barrier but could make it work. While most of the hostal was clean, Stairs were always dirty. Lots of Lint. And second night was a little hard to sleep on because neighbors were very noisy. Whenever they closed the door it would make a big bang and they spoke loud. Not really hotels fault but it is good to share this. Food around was great. Yeah, there are a lot of drunk guys but they are minding...

"My boyfriend and I stayed at Pocket for several days while visiting Kyoto. It is located in such a convenient area (walkable distance to Nishiki and transit). The property itself is clean and the staff are so friendly and helpful! It is definitely worth staying here for the price! The only complaint I have come from the other foreigners/tourists. Please be respectful of the space especially when maintaining cleanliness as this is a shared space. Otherwise, I’d definitely recommend Pocket hotel! "

"Facility's shared bathing area is very clean, had a passcode for the female bath so it felt fairly safe. Free laundry machines are available but the drier is not very good so it took very long for all my clothes to dry. One of the front desk lady was a bit cold when we arrive to store our luggage. The hotel is located in a smaller alley, but overall the location is convenient as it is within walking distance to the Kyoto station. "

"Great location to Universal Studios Japan. If you want an inexpensive option for the area this was great. Room was not overly clean they could do a much better job on that end. Limited personal hours at front desk. Do not show up early as no one there until 4pm to check you in. Only about a 10-12 minute walk to universal which is what makes it great"

"The hostel was comfortable overall. The bathrooms were not that clean as the other hostels I’ve been at in Japan but still bearable. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. Only issue is the shoes (which you have to remove before getting in the beds section are placed within the dorm itself giving a nauseating smell for who is close to them, maybe place them outside?staff overall friendly and lounge really nice and equipped "
