" Lovely stay at Deer Valley, staff were great, very friendly. Really liked that meals were served at your table - we had stayed at a few other places recently that were all buffet style. The food was very very nice, and the italian dinner focus was a nice change from several weeks of japanese food. Breakfast was a large american plate, which also included a tasty curry soup (love that about hokkaido). Onsen has a nice view of Asahidake, and it was good to have the option to also take an onsen...

"We just spent five weeks in Japan and are still talking about the food we ate here. It is nothing short of spectacular. We paid quadruple at other ryokans and this one had the best food, best location and the best onsens. It’s an older place with older, big onsens and for us that was the charm of it. The rooms are very clean, the beds are comfortable. The staff was incredibly kind. We went skiing one day and snowshoeing the next and ended up seeing a red fox each day. Really can’t recommend this...
