"The Shakespeare is very much a funky "character hotel", and it's 100+ year history shows in good and less so ways. Anyone who has stayed in Paris knows what a 4 storey walk up is like - all those stairs can be a challenge, especially with luggage. But the "vibe" is very cool, and it's all the old architectural details that make it such a unique experience. "Property is run down and in poor condition. Zero in person contact at reception, only telephone calls. You need to phone on arrival to get key from lockbox. Room was old, door had been forced open at some point with crowbar, TV would not work, heater did not function, showerhead broken, security chain broken, deadlock bolts on both doors loose. Bed was comfortable however and parking available but that was only plus. Do not stay here. "

"You get what you pay for here. Overall the room was acceptable for the price we paid for it. Ac was a necessary addition that I’m glad they had. Slight stain on the bedsheets, and the shower was okay. There was no mention before booking that you had to pay to park on the property. 30 dollars a night. Would stay again for one night only. Staff was very helpful and kind! Front desk took care of us with a great attitude."

"The place is not very friendly. The customer service at reception pathetic no greetings, not helpful at all. He directly asked for my CVC code which I understand however he didn’t care to explain the terms at all. The place is under construction where sounds are so loud. We called and asked for a knife to have some fruits the men said he will arrange, after waiting for a while we went down to ask him he said the housekeeping had gone out and will bring it to us when he is back.
