"Our first impression of this hotel was not so good... a hotel built in the 1990s with a somewhat strange layout and in need of modernization. It’s definitely not a 4-* hotel. However, first impressions can be wrong. The spa in a separate building was quite amazing and the best after a day of skiing or hiking. Dinner on the top floor was very good and staff was very attentive. Not our first choice for a holiday but for a stopover this hotel was quite OK."

"I called the night before my arrival and was told that I would have to walk from the bus station to the hotel. It was not easy as uphill and I had two bags. When i arrived ( rather hot amd bothered), the receptionists said I should have called them to pick me up! Once checked in, I called reception three times and room service (there is no mini bar) and no k e picked up. I was told the phone system was not working (although they did get it operating). "Fantastic location - a 5 min flat walk to Brig Rail/Bus station and a slightly uphill walk to the town centre and Schlossalpenstock. Perfect for our plans for daily train trips (Brig has mainline connections across Switzerland and to Italy and is a station on the Glacier Express route from Zermatt to Andermatt, Chur and St Moritz). "The hotel needs some general maintenance and cleaning to bring it back into shape. When the staff is there, they are very friendly but it is largely un attended. The hotel is very quaint and has a lot of picturesque places. Great breakfast and fun breakfast host. "
