"Our room was very spacious, but basic. No frills at all. The heated pool was lovely, but after swimming peacefully for about 15 minutes my husband joined me and so did a staff member. She sat on a chair and did a speaker phone call with family (including an excited, screaming child) and ruined the whole peaceful o space. We wound up leaving and he didn’t swim because it was just awkward. A shame because that’s why we chose this hotel. The woman at the restaurant was amazingly kind. Overall it...

This was my second visit with Bloom Microventures, a microfinance charity that helps empower marginalised women in the countryside that live below the poverty line (less than $18 a month household income in Vietnam). Visit if you want to get to know Vietnam beyond the tourist gloss and make a real difference.
