"Lovely stay at the hotel. Great service. Beautiful hotel. Great breakfast. Nice and close to all the shops and things to do. Downside - pillows really uncomfortable. We were in room 231 which was on the back and you did get noise from the tanoy but nothing terrible. "

"Be aware that only half of this hotel has elevator access. Staff communication is questionable, we were booked in for dinner only for to find out when we arrived that reception was not aware that the entire dinning room was booked for a tour bus group. We had to eat in the bar. Morning breakfast with the same tour group was very disorganised, and it was very much first come first serve for seating."

"My stay at Aldwark was most pleasurable. Beautiful surroundings, pleasant and helpful staff and the room was clean and had everything needed for a stay away from home."

"Overall a good stay but wouldn’t consider it boutique. Few marks and stains on the carpets ,curtains ill fitting. Appreciate the history and age of the building but it’s in need of a few domestic repairs. Unable to reduce the temperature of the water in the shower and was far too hot. After a while there was no water at all available. Breakfast was good . "

"A beautiful period coaching inn with wonderful views. The staff were amazing, friendly & dedicated to ensuring our stay was pleasurable. For the elderly it is worth mentioning that there is no lift, which makes access to the upper floors somewhat challenging. We found the diner menu somewhat limited & unvarying, but this did not detract from our overall experience sufficiently to completely mar our stay. This is the only reason we cannot give te hotel an overall 5 star rating."

"Very good hotel in excellent location for Helmsley with great spa facilities. Slightly disappointed with quality of cleaning of room with no drinks or toiletry replenishment after the first nights stay. Good breakfast but food slow coming out of kitchen, not the waiting staffs fault though. Lovely lounges and excellent bar with helpful and welcoming staff. "

"Property and rooms are beautiful and the pantry with snacks was handy with a toddler! Our room unfortunately had a leak through the ceiling on the first night, and all staff were amazing helping us sort it (thankfully we didnt need to move rooms). The girls on reception and manager were all welcoming, couldn't recommend the hotel enough. We will be staying again on our next visit!"

"I cannot recommend this place enough. So convenient, walkable and really in the heart of the best of York. Plenty of kitchen space so you can actually share meals together. If I had to mention any drawback the wifi was not the best. If I am ever back in York, ( which I hope to be the case ♥️) I will definitely book with this property. "
