Absolutely loved it. room spotless. breakfast probably the best we have ever had and great options . Staff lovely Parking can be an issue but there is a car park just down the road if needed
Old coaching in so plenty of character. Unfortunately this also meant no lift so a bit of a struggle to upstairs rooms with a heavy suitcase. Staff were all friendly and efficient and the included breakfast offered plenty of variety. I ate dinner in the bar lady night and the lamb was really excellent. There is parking but I’m not sure if there is space if every room is filled. There’s also a spa on site but I didn’t have time to try it.
The food at the hotel restaurant was exceptional - I had one of the best pies I've ever had, and I've eaten a lot of pies! The staff were really friendly and the room was cozy.
The hotel was lovely and spotlessly clean. Lots of lovely quirky seating areas to enjoy your drink. All the staff very welcoming. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal in the restaurant. Breakfast was also lovely, a wide range and piping hot. The pool area was very good and also spotlessly clean. The rooms were also lovely, spotless and nicely decorated. Lots of extras in the rooms including a coffee machine and a kettle. Free parking at the hotel. I would definitely stay here again.
Very nice stay in a Lovely hotel in very nice location.
Very nice staff especially Rachel who helped with our booking, thank you Rachel. We did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the food. Very nice room.
Great base for exploring North Yorkshire and we visited Ripon, Thirsk and Knaresborough. We will definitely book again 😃

Liked: Staff & service, amenities
Management didn't think about the impact of the hot weather as the room was so hot and they supplied a tiny fan that did nothing to cool the room. Lots of spots in the hotel needs updating or repairing. Both the staff and the leisure amenities were great.
Lovely established hotel, I stayed only one night en route further north. Dinner and breakfast were of a high standard, and the staff were all very professional, helpful and charming. Room large and well-equipped.
All good and would recommend.
Room was clean & with lovely furnishings. Staff were excellent, friendly & helpful. Good choice for breakfast, eggs royale was lovely. Our dogs were welcomed & catered for. Some lovely sitting areas with comfy seats. A lovely place to stay with good amenities. Recommended.
Overall a really great stay. Some signs of wear and tear but is to be expected from such an old and historic building. Breakfast was good. Room was warm but we did stay in a heatwave and the window did open and we had a fan so that made it slightly more bearable. The car park was full on arrival but we were lucky we arrived after on street parking rules ended so we parked on street and moved into the car park when there was a space. All staff we interacted with were lovely.
We had a very nice overnight stay at the Crown. Staff were kind & welcoming on arrival, the room was clean and comfortable and well appointed, we had dinner in the restaurant which was really nice, drinks were a big pricey but I guess that's hotel pricing. Breakfast was really good, freshly prepared and very tasty. All in all really good, the only minor negative was the dated bathroom in our room, however the shower was really good, powerful and plenty of hot water so, does that really matter?

Old building but for the price of the stay, excellent.
I booked for a gym, not bad.
Small, im glad not many people was in.
One cable machine, some weights, two benches.
Never used the pool.
Food absolutely beautiful, chicken was amazing, compliments to the chef.
Staff very nice and attentive.
I stayed one night in a double room. The downstairs of this hotel is OK, I arrived early (2pm) and it took me a while to find someone to ask if I could check in early. I couldn't so went off for a walk round the town (which is v nice).
My room (40) was small, tbe bedroom window opened about 6 inches (not ideal in a heatwave in a room with no aircon), the bathroom was tired, mouldy grout and a mouldy shower curtain. The bed was very firm, a bit too firm for me.
On the plus side - we ate in the restaurant and the food was really good. We just stayed one night and then headed on the next leg of our journey - I probably wouldn't stay again (but would eat there). Also there was no one on reception when I wanted to check out so I had to leave my key on the desk. It felt a bit understaffed.
